Nope. Nada. Zilch. Just a GLI now. I'd buy a project Westy for the right price though. They instill a certain feeling that you can hop in and drive off to travel the world in comfort. That's what I miss.

I know, they're more addicting then snorting lines off the tank of a KTM.

So, to give you a bump, I started mine up.

Installed the fuel filler pipe this am, got a late start since it was 28 deg this am....Brrrrrrrr.

Filler assy back together again

Getting ready to install the shock, a 7 way adjustable Fox unit. I'll be installing limiting straps with custom adjuster/mounts as well, I'll do that after it's back on it's wheels and the engine is installed.

Here I'm applying a think coat of wax to keep the shock in good cond, I'll re-apply a few times a year.

Installed. :-)

Now to clean up the brake hardware. This is a Harbor Freight Ultrasonic cleaner, it works pretty good! I use full strength Simple Green as the solution...place your parts in the bath and run it through a few cycles. Not the best Ultrasonic unit on the market but the price is right.

Before.....

And fresh out of the cleaner.

Had to get some work around the house done today so I stopped there. More progress tomorrow.

Ok well, now I've seen it all.

I can't even get those cornholers to rebuild the shock I bought from them 20 years ago.

For anyone here without the skills to try such an awesome build. All you need is $71,000 to "Buy It Now".

That thing is ridiculous and has been for sale for quite some time. Some overly rich person will get the Westy bug and snag it up, or it will continue to live on ebay.

Sure is purdy though.

The good thing is, your damn motor can't read. If it says oil on the container, it's pretty much OK to dump in there.... ED.

Yep...but they do seem to sell for that. GoWesty does full restorations on Westy's for over $100K and people buy them! Nuts!
