If anyone's looking to buy a gps (or camping/hunting/fishing stuff for that matter) LeBaron on Merivale is having a 'tax free' weekend. I happened to be there today and noticed they have the 600 and 650 Garmin Montanas in stock, as well as most of the mounting systems for that unit.
I didn't see the price on the Montanas but the mount systems I saw were within a couple of bucks of GPSCity's price. And I bet they would price match too if you asked nicely. They also had a display case with a number of specially priced units; i'm pretty sure they had a Nuvi 550 for around $100. Probably their display model. The 550 is supposedly waterproof; lots of people use them on bikes.

Got up early this morning and rode the GPX file from the "Call In Sick" track. Didn't really encounter any rain, but there were plenty of puddles. Great ride.

Another 375 kms today, a mix of mud, gravel and pavement in the Calabogie Highlands. Weather was a bit cool, especially near Matawatchan, where it was 9C and rainy. But it wasn't all wet...
We kinda looked like Ghost Riders when we got home, though.

Anyone going out for a rip today, or tomorrow?
Could have used a set of those grab handles on that rally bike last week in Huntsville.

BMA Fall DS Charity ride Sat Oct 20
Good day,
Just wanted to let you know that we are having our 4th fall scenic charity dual sport ride on Sat., Oct. 20. As in the past, I am raising money to buy much needed supplies and medicines for the Arnprior and District Humane Society. (This humane society is not government funded.) A donation of $20 or more would be appreciated. Our route consists of dirt, gravel and paved roads. It is suitable for all types of dual sport bikes. (There are no aggressive options on this ride.) A GPS file will be provided for those riders wishing it. Start Location: Hopetown We will meet in the parking lot of Trinity United Church which is beside the Hopetown gas station. (I have permission.) Start time and length of ride will be posted soon but assume a late morning start and about 150 km. Lunch stop will be near Pine Lake. You do need to bring your own lunch. Hope you can make it!

Sounds good and I'll finally have my Dakar back on the road so any rides before the winter will be fun no matter how cold it gets
