That Tony was a little disappointed that we weren't lingering as we barreled across the Gravelly range,

but it was a double-edged sword: to enjoy the light at this time of day we were pushing it as to how late we'd get to a campsite before dark. So we had to keep up the pace.

See the two riders ahead of me?

I wouldn't have traded that light for anything.

daylight to spare, we pulled into Clover Meadows.

Threw down our tents, and started cooking some grub. There was a campfire ban

. But we did our best to make due.

Bob's bike had been sputtering a bit and losing power,

Not sure what the final diagnosis was?

A late start, and a late finish...

and a decent climb! My lungs were still functioning at sea level.

The pictures make me really sorry I missed the Gravelly Range. Beautiful and maybe even big bike friendly!

beautiful and windy up there to be sure.
you found a lee in the pines. were you guys able to cook at least with say a Jet Boil?

Yes, We could cook on a stove or jetboil!.......Doc and LDF have the best "fire simulator" I have ever seen!!!!!

They set it up the first night in the Gravely range!!!!........This thing is so cool!!!...........Doc, Please elaborate on the

Plan "B" fire!!!!

Dr. Rock anticipated us not being able to build a campfire at all in Montana---and parts of Wyoming.
This was a serious thing----and we never did build one where we weren't suppose to.

So------this is just off the charts.
I give you---------Dr.Rocks "Campfire Substitute".................you can feel the heat.
We enjoyed this every night. The light isn't very good in this video---but it was getting dark.

A wee dram of "Peat Monster" would have completed the picture as it is akin to "drinking" a campfire.

I was wanting to continue contributing to this ride report but have been gettin' itchy to ride.
I will head out in the morning if not today. So-------you all carry on without me.
Where am I going- ?????--------I don't know. But it's nice out--the leaves are turning and I've got to see every one of them.
