In my experience with dozens of Rolex's, if it's keeping good time don't mess with it. My Sea Dweller is starting to pick up time, around 15 seconds a day, and I'm on the fence with sending it it. I've been wearing my 5513 Sub for the past few weeks, and it was last serviced by Rolex in 1998, and it's still within 5 seconds a day.

Here is my vintage omega after having it restored. Yes I scratched the crystal but oh well it is worn a lot. It was my Dads and has a lot of sentimental value.

Plastic crystal? Look for a tube of PolyWatch - I think it sells for around $7 on Amazon. It's designed to take the scratches out of acrylic watches. I have an homage with a plastic crystal and it requires treatment from time to time as I'm a watch-basher.

![]() ![]() If that don't work I'll try the poly watch. Thanks for the tip. Oh and I love the smooth sweeping movement of this watch. |

Black face, black ring, white hands/numbers. Google shows it from $3290 to $3800, from various sellers. My daily-wearer is a Seamaster mid-size 300m. Also with a black ring/face. |

I've used a variety of things for polishing watches a plastic crystals, but I've settled on the Cape Cod Polishing Cloth. It's fantastic for crystals (non-sapphire), gold, and polished stainless. You can find them at most real hardware stores. If you're restoring a watch with any brushed surfaces, like a Rolex Submariner bracelet, you can use a Scotchbrite pad to restore the finish. Just tape off the polished areas and run the pad in the direction of the grain on the brushed surfaces.
