![]() Sure hope you get to go, it was and will continue to be a BLAST. Would you be going on your current bike? You would be quite popular if you did.

There are MANY stretches of less than paved roads. The section from Chicken to the Canadian border is probably, or has the potential to be pretty sketchy at times. I would say the Coldfoot to Deadhorse stretch is the nastiest section of the haul road. I've yet to be on that so I have no way to compare. I'm sure someone will chime in.

i have ridden from Fairbanks all the way up to Coldfoot and then back to Fairbanks in one day... so that stretch there the dirt wasnt so bad for my bike and I. its just those sluggish muds stretch that i have to slow down for.
for all Anchorage, wasila,Palme area going to D2D, how do ya route yourself i can see myself taking off from Anchorage up the old glen to Tok, camp a night and then from Tok ...where do u guys camp next ...? OR do ya just take Tok ALLL the way to Dawson. ? or stop a night in between Tok to Dawson .? |

That is exactly what we (the group I rode with) did. There is a motorcycle friendly campground in Tok (Thompson's Eagle Claw) And then the run from Tok to Dawason is not too long. With the obligitory stop in Chicken

Hope I can make it in 2013, especially if I can manage to bring money and have knobby tires on the lil old WR250R this time.

I've ridden straight through from Anchorage to Dawson for the last several years. Hoping to do it differently this year and the loose plan is to overnight at the campground in Tok, or maybe Fast Edward's. Large time either way. You'll have a gas. There are a couple choices for tires that were sort of ushered in with the Buell Ulyses that might make your bike a little more stable on the longer dirt and gravel sections.

Since Tom S has been THE MOST INSISTENT that it be called a rally maybe, just maybe, it should be known henceforth as not only the D2D gathering, but also as Tom's Rally. Tom, will we EVER see you in Dawson City again?!? Hope so.Mark H. |

Huhh?
Don't you have to go more than twice to have it named for U?
and anyone riding there on a Buell doesn't count, so has he ever really been there? You'd think with all his BMW bashing and Rally Crying he'd be an ornery ol' cuss... not some loveable 90 year old ex-hippie in skin tight leathers stradling a HyperRetard... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
