![]() XWRC... loosing its luster...haven't we been talking about this for a while now since it is like 3 rounds and yaddyyadda mini's in the baja?? sounds like fun to me what about them toyotas? anyone care about the cars (ahem trucks...)? This rally will answer a lot of questions many of us have been asking recently but I bet it will leave us asking many more once it is all said and done disregard your dakar countdown clocks, Rally Maroc is upon us.

I just had a look through the Italian forums, unfortunately -as per the entry list of the Maroc Rally- the Bordone Ferrari Mi1 has been postponed till mid 2013...
looks like the whole team wil be on KTMs for the Dakar as well. Regarding the omnishambles that makes up the XWRC, I would prefer to see a European championship (Sardegna, Albania, Serres -which is a round of the European XC cup already- etc), plus the Baja series is already solid, and definitely make the XWRC all over the world, lord knows there are more than enough exotic destinations: - Desafio - Sertoes - ADDC - Touareg - Morocco - Pharaons - Australasian etc One problem may be that the FIM have enough trouble dealing with the FIA as it is, plus they are still lovestruck with the more prestigious series like MotoGP, WSBK, WEC, MX to give a hoot about the rally scene. Hopefully it will change now that HRC have made such a high profile investment, assuming they don't only focus on the Dakar, but I also feel that you need a solid promoter for the whole series. Right now I don't even think there is one... |

It seems quite simple...world series should be from around the world. One from Africa, South America, Asia, Australia and ?
Then it becomes a true world series Quote:

I dream of a Rally Raid series similar to the WRC.
Bikes and cars/trucks. Every continent. Every season of the year. Ice lakes, forests and deserts. Maybe even a bit of asphalt (don't stone me). Mandated participation for factories/star riders. Prototypes and (poor-man's) stock categories. Well televised and promoted. Some umbrella girls would also freshen up the images. Ehh... It'll never happen. |

Every condition, day night rain shine, surface, sounds like one of the primary reasons I liked the local rallies here in the first place! BEsides the poor man's categories.

Hot on the heels of their triumph in the Pharaons Rally the Husqvarna Rallye Team by Speedbrain sets off today for Morocco where the Oilybia Rally will be held from 15th to 20th October, another important test before Dakar 2013. The team will be made up of three riders on the Husqvarna TE449RR by Speedbrain. Alongside Pharaons Rally winner Spaniard Joan Barreda will be Paulo Goncalves from Portugal, who lines up beside 31 year old Australian Matt Fish. Matt Fish has some 25 years off-road racing experience and his greatest achievement to date has been his victory in the Indee 500 in Australia this year, as well as finishing in the top ten of the Abu Dhabi Rally in Quatar. The Husqvarna Rally Team by Speedbrain aims to use Morocco as a final test to fine tune the bike before the Dakar 2013, as well as getting the eleven man team of riders, technicians and mechanics up to scratch. The Oilybia Rally of Morocco sets off from Erfoud and finishes in Zagora with a total of 6 stages, 1550 km (969 miles) of special test, making up 2000 km (1250 miles) in total. Wolfgang Fischer – Team Manager: ”The Morocco rally is a particularly important one in the build-up to the Dakar 2013. It’ll be the last chance to run on terrain similar to what we will find in January’s race, and to test out the latest technical modifications that we’ve made to our TE449RR. It’ll also be an important test for the whole squad, which with the addition of Australian rider Matt Fish is now really well rounded out. Matt will act as a pacemaker for Barreda and Goncalves.” Now, there's a new one - not support or waterboy, but pacemaker ![]() ![]()
