I'm glad you took all those pictures in Maryland, if there were places like that in WV folks would want to ride there.

Looks like the knobs wore off your tires.

I'll be home next weekend.

I know .... these where scenes just north over the PA LINE , but MD just as nice. I'm trying to run the tread off, but those things holding up too good! Lanny at Cumberland Cycle likes the Kenda Big Blocks as well as you do!

Yeah I know you know. These pics are not too far away from those I took up at the state forest! It is a screamingly good area, but like most a lot of it is now fenced off! But it is gorgeous area out through there!

Autumn Festival

All Righty Then!
Here in "The Mountains of the East" there are numerous small communities one of which is a little hamlet known as "Springs, PA". According to Google maps it is 3.3 miles due north of Grantsville, MD [old rt 40]. and 1.0 mile over the state line into Pennsylvania. I'm going to do some more research on this town, but it is probably 3/4 of a mile from one end of town to another, and I'd guess several hundred families live there, but it's got a lot of class! .... more to come be back in a moment!

Ok 2000 Census says there are 60 households with a total population of 189! Great little town! My curiosity was peaked because though this community was relatively small in nature, They had one of the most well organized, and developed fall festivals I'd ever seen, called the "55th Annual Springs Folk Festival". Many communities around these parts have these events annually around this same time every year, and they all vary in name, size and scope. Springs did it well. No I mean Very Well! As usual I took a lot of pictures, but this time I found myself fascinated by the people! It was one of the most eclectic gatherings around. Well here we go.

It wouldn't be a Folk Festival unless there where crafts!

More than ample parking.

There was a church on the main drag with at least 15 motorcycles parked in front of it. Wish I'd had a picture of that

beautiful historical settings everywhere you turn.

But like I said they did it well. It was all about the people!

Folks from all walks of life! I was totally immersed in it.

Some folks where dressed in period costumes and some folks where just "styln and profiln"!

Did I mention the hand made craft ware?

People!

Tradesmen would dress the part in order to represent there craft as it would have been done back in the day

Some like for the first time anywhere here in this site my oldest of my two daughters sitting at her booth talking to her mom "The Fox".
Sarah has her mother's beauty, and her father's intellect ...... Naw that's her mother too!
As I have said earlier. I married way above my head.
Sarah makes gorgeous hand crafted, hand knitted, Toboggan Hats, Neck Scarfs, Pocket Books, and Children's Wear.

Mountain people are animated ..... ?

Small glimpse of the inside of the main building!

Everything and Everyone who was somebody, or some doggy was there

Some folk been going there a LOOONG time! living on the grounds

Obviously an old church cemetary. there are some other markers much older that this one!

Turn any which way you want and you'll find it all food, crafts, gifts, food, and then there was good ol country cookin!

If you weren't eatin or a buyn something, it was just as much fund to find a bench, sit down and just
WATCH

It was fascinating any which way you'd turn your head!

Just one of the most beautiful settings anywhere! Hollywood still can not reproduce or computer generate anything
this good yet!

These where the scrubs the good ones haven't fully turned yet!

True Love still holds hands no matter how ..... many summers you've walked together.

Craft and Craft-women!

You won't find fare like this on the menu at the "Golden Choral"!

I was walking along and I heard what sounded like the sound track to "O Brother Where Art Thou" the WoeBGone Girls"! Upon further investigation ....

Seriously! It was at least this big!

Biggest Begonia I've ever Seen!

Just something that caught my eye. Notice the top window trim, that you don't find on houses today!

I think they moved out a while back!

The Fox and a timely find!

Quit your staring it hain't polite!
