This spring they seemed to put a large dose of loose stones on most of the roads, but the roads that carry more traffic are finally becoming hard packed as traffic compresses the stone into the earth. A couple months ago some of the roads had 3" of loose stone .But even RT 233 is a beautiful ride.

I am going to try to do both rides
The wife got a brand new pair of riding pants and gloves. If she has fun this weekend I bet she will want to go also.

Aiming for the 20th, with the 27th as a backup.
Is there any consensus about a meeting point? I'm coming from the south (DC area) so I guess I'm a bit biased

If I can get my PA licensing sorted in time, I would try to do the 10/27 ride. I just moved from Maryland to like two miles from Caledonia and ride Michaux all the time.

Rode from East Berlin PA. today through Michaux via rt 233. I only saw one Duel Sports bike, that was a red one with a pillon rider, don't know what kind it was. Temp. was 51 degrees and sunny, nice day to ride. Hope to be there tomorrow.

I'd suggested meeting at the McDonalds in Waynsboro and riding north. Ride out at 10:00. Though I'm open to other places, as McDonalds isn't the epitome of good food.
There was a suggestion for meeting somewhere midway up Michaux instead. I asked why that would be better, as it seems to me we would be doubling back on ourselves. Got no answer or reply to the question. As it stands now, I'll be at the McDondalds in Waynsboro some time after 9:00 on both days. I'll be on a red Honda XL500s. I'll either ride it there, or truck it if I have to. I'll try to have the route loaded into my DeLorme GPS, and have it on the bike. But I'll confess, I don't know several of the 5 recommended stops, so if someone else knows the route, take the lead. |

Route ideas
Here's a possible route I put together. Note: since google maps gets funky with driving direcions, these are for bicycling. The actual ROUND trip is about 100 miles so it should take about 4-5 hours max.
This is assuming we meet at Waynesboro, head north to Mt Holly Springs, and return South to Waynesboro. I'm cool with nearly any variation of this. Views @ Waypoints: - B : Dark Hollow - C : Hammond's Rocks - E : Spruce Run - F : Buzzard's Rocks - G : Snowy Mountain - H : Valley View First two on the way up, remaining four on the way down. Figured this would give the best views with sunlight, of course if the weather is crap, we could just stop once and use the same photo for all views...

Thanks to TowPro
...for sharing the TPAT files. Did a few chunks of it this weekend up from Northern VA. Swung by Carlisle to find my old house where this happened over 30 years ago!

![]() ![]() ![]() I wish more people would ride it. Included in that zip file was SoPaRiders best of Michaux routes 12, 13 and 15. I never got the bike out today. Weather forecast showed It was raining down at Michaux (and I got an almost bald tire). I had some other things that needed to get done, so I did them.
