It's been a long time since I had my GS1000G to recall model differences, but I would guess that the "L" had a more pronounced king/queen seat and possibly a chrome rear fender, rather than the "tail" on the "G".

The L was there cruiser model,high pull back bars,step seat and LL forks and a more tear drop tank.The G was the standard model with a wide flat seat,lower bars and a 5.8 gal standard tank.

i'll contribute to the cheap bike challenge "suzuki gs" sub thread.
6,000 mile 85 1150 with 6,000 original miles. went over by a hundred or so with expenses driving 600 miles round trip to pick up.

I am seriously eye humping this sweet machine.That is the sweetest GS I have ever seen and GS's is the only bikes(6) I currently own.

Got er for 700.00 at a swap meet. Well under 1,500.00 after replacing almost every seal, heads, tires and bearings. A before pic, looks about the same now and a pic of the mock-up of the new front end to be installed soon. I'll get an after shot next week.
