About da fees
I been following you and hey,!! I wanta go to Belize too!! And I am in Chetumal , Mexico. So, I got up this morning, found the Kawasaki dealer, such as it was, paid $190 ($14.25us ) for a fram oil filter, smiled at the counter help, got some lunch and headed for the gate. I was not in the best humor. I had been thinking about my deposit and wondering how that would work out. I was asked for $300 ($22.50us) for an exit tax. I declined their offer without quotable offence and went back to town. The rest of the day did go really well. But I gotta know: Is that right? And there was a guy being way to friendly. He said ' Don't be scared' , which I hear as a warning. Anyway. What should I expect? If you could help out I would be very grateful. It helps me a lot, to kinda know what to expect. I do have 4 more months on may Mexican Visa etc, so this is not a real crisis. ratbikemike

Oh HELL yeah....I'm weak to temptation what can I say?
![]() It occurs to me that for current pricing, we could just check with President Obama's Secret Service and get a breakdown by country..... ![]() On a serious note, I just want to say; thank you for explaining the ins and outs of the border crossings, that kind of info is extremely helpful. In fact, it seems to me that we should start a sub forum just for that subject, with people posting what they did - that way we could keep it up to date and save from digging through the site for hours.

next is your bike, a head on the left you will see some railings and a gate to walk thru, there are some parking spaces in front, this is the Bank, go here with your TVIP paperwork, there is two windows, the ladies inside are really friendly and speak english, one will come out and take a photo of your VIN number and give you a reciept, your deposit minus the fee will be back in your bank account within 5-10 days - you are now out of mexico, NO FEES TO PAY AT ALL next you cross the bridge, there is an insurance booth to your right as you cross or one later your choice, see earlier post for photos, then after that about 2-300 yards on your right is the immigration and customs building (temp import paper for the bike, again English spoken, NO FEES TO PAY AT ALL to come into Belize, do these two things, then go to the barrier and be checked again and go thru, if you didn't get insurance at the first place the last place to get it is infront of you about 100 yards, again see earlier post for photos this border is very official, every body is in a building on each side wearing uniforms, if anyone approaches you and asks for money its a scam or a hustle, you don't need it go back to my earlier post make notes on a piece f paper and follow it to the letter and you will be thru...easy as for leaving belize there is a fee, i will find out on the morning the cost, it used to be $30 but i have been told recently it maybe $20 or even $37.50, again i'll post in detail how it works I know Mick at Crooked Tree Lodge has space and there is ALWAYS someone there him or his wife Angie, don't stay in Orangewalk its a hole and BElize city isn't much better, where i am right now will be too far, but as a second stop it will be good, email the owner to see if she has space, mention my name and she may do a deal for you, she did for me, her email is tricia@tippletreebelize.com, her name is Tricia, she's English Hope this helps...now catch up so we can have some beers!!!

i'm posting border information for me as a reminder, i forgot to do it last year and it does change, so each one i go thru i will try and get good photos if possible and describe the process, once i have been south and come back then i'll link them all together in one post and yes if need be put it in a seperate thread for reference for others so its easy to find... as its not my first time down here i'm not too intimidated or confused by the process, but generally if you take your time, speak to the guy who is trying ot hustle you, once you decline his services he will point you in the right direction, if not find someone in uniform...they always seem to be outside taking a break

just realised if i posted what you need to get it may make things easier for others too...
this is my passport with three stamps - green one at the top is Mexico exit stamp - next one is Belize immigration (entry stamp) - next is Belize temporary import stamp with your bikes information the piece of white paper behind is the temporary import paperwork, make sure the details are the same and keep them together at all times, to be shown on demand to the police ![]() this is the insurance paperwork, the paperwork/ reciept and the insurance sticker thats supposed to be on your windshield. it was raining the day i came in so i told him i would keep it in my wallet, again needs to be shown on demand by the police - there is a official police checkpoint just outside of Belize city
