The comments after 2010 that were expressed was Skamokia was not epic enough so DW picked up the ball and put on an epic Wetfest at a different location, as for my first response, but that got slightly derailed.

what is the expected attendance for a given wetfest event?
how much did it cost a Skamokawa? could we reserve a county park or forest service park? Lake Selmac? Loon Lake? Others?

Uh no.
Skankatowa is my favorite ride-to campsite and the little groups that show up at my watch the ships go by posts have been a blast. I like small gatherings with people I know. Carry on

a venue suggestion
This is a pretty neat place - smack in the middle of the gorge, starting at $75 bucks a night (total) for up to 90 people...

showers are nice, tho I seldom use them,,
If everybody is in for a given amount of rental space/reservation costs, we can find something with enuff room and all the warm and fuzzy comforts as well. Who knows of a favorite campsite capable of hosting 600 WetFest attendees? Ideas? No gravel pits!,,shade would be nice,, but grass for tent pitching is a must. water, toilets, showers,,a plus! beer available within 10 miles or so, what do we need? Marsters Springs out of Paisley is not big enuff, Page springs out of Frenchglen is big enuff if we took the whole park, but no showers. Topsy Grade to the south, has great riding, but limited camping, no showers. Somebody knows somebody with enuff room, and a creek we can pee in,,spout off! Ideas?!!!!!

http://www.grantcountyfairgrounds.com/facilities.php
Grant county fairgrounds is for hire,,with all the shit we need,,basic rental is $350,,showers, a kitchen, a big bilding to hide in if it rains, tons of tent sites and RV spaces on site! I camp there free on my way through town sometimes, the space along the river beside the horse arena is always open year round. They have no facility for you to pay for camping overnite, but there has never been a problem with showing up and pitching a tent. So I send them some dollars each year to apply to their general fairgrounds fund. A group effort would most likely be welcomed, they are very receptive to the annual BMW Riders of Oregon Rally (Chief Joseph Rally) each year, the town makes money, the folks are friendly and receptive, and it is right in the center of some of the best riding in the state, gravel or asphalt. it's a thought,,

Skamania county fairgrounds. Right in the Gorge. Not far from epic GPNF single track. A quick website check says $250 plus insurance. I've been there for a couple of Sound Rider rally in the gorge events.
Just a thought. Too bad it's in Worshington. |
