Barber Vintage Festival
I am sharing some posts I made with my local Triumph club some photos from last week's Vintage Festival at Barber. If you like any of these and want the original pic feel free to send me a note. I'm not a great photographer (as you'll see) but Photoshop does wonders! If you were there this year and have pics to add PLEASE DO!
I hope you see one or two you will like, Barber was fantastic! The facility is on another level from any other track I've ever been to. I'll post groups of photos over the next few days on different subjects on our trip. It is WELL worth the time to go down. The track: Gorgeous! Mr. Barber has manicured and landscaped the entire facility. He is the sole proprieter and owner of both the track and the museum Every track gate is something fancy like this This is the newest addition. He added this last year All over the entire facility he had impressions in the concrete like this... everywhere He got this group of guys from a company in Birmingham that went under "Enron Style". I think they were called HealthSouth Blow up church. The lady on the tram told us he puts this up every year and it gets used too! A guy on the tram said it was probably full of hot air. In front of museum... Another angle. Mr Barber commissioned this piece for the museum The track is a piece of art when viewed out the back wall of the museum! tt100 screwed with this post 10-20-2012 at 05:29 PM |

New Triumph Trophy
As we were departing the museum Friday afternoon we rode the elevator with a Triumph NA employee who told us the two new Trophy's that had been tested and in all the mags recently were being offloaded at the Atlanta airport and were being ridden over to be on display at the Triumph tent all day Saturday. We went over and took a bunch of pictures. Instead of just showing one or two I'll put all of them up for any of you that are thinking seriously about it. Apologies in advance for photo quality (or more accurately... photographer quality:
![]() ![]() ![]() That's a USB plug in there. I think in total there were maybe 4 power outlets (Ft, passenger, tailbox...., and maybe another on in the front NOT in the cubby). At least three anyway, and I'm thinking 4 I (half) jokingly told the rep that I'd pay for an option to get a new bike WITHOUT these stickers! He rolled his eyes and nodded his head in agreement and said that they had started using a different material that tends to stay in one piece when you attempt to remove it. Hear! hear! ![]() ![]() It's a shame those pretty pipes are hidden up in there. My buddy Jim noted that the radiator was curved and tucked up in there quite nicely ![]() ![]() Shields down.... ![]() Shields up.... ![]() |

Bikes from the Festival
Now on to the Barber Vintage Festival. Here are pics of bikes around the track and swap meet...
Notice anything about the silver one? Supercharged! See D.E. lurking in the background? I'm going to estore one of these one day.... This thing was MINT! ![]() If you don't know about Motus yet, Google them and check them out. This bike was SWEET, never mind the awesome sound! ![]() Harley TeleGlide I was so taken with details on this bike I forgot to get a picture of the whole thing. I'm here to tell you it was in the top 2-3 of bikes on display.... two more pics to follow; This gorgeous Duck was being auctioned Nicest Zundapp I've ever seen ![]() Wanna bid for a auction Triumph? These were all being auctioned... Look at all the color ![]() Love them Guzzis! ![]() 6-7 bikes older than 1912 competed in a two lap race. There were several Cannonball bikes too. It was funny to hear a guy get told, "Sir, you can't race. Your 1918 Harley is too new..." |

Museum Pics
OK.... on to the Museum. As with the race track I've never EVER quite seen anything like the Barber Museum. WHen we were handing our ticket to the nice woman at the entrance I asked her for some information on Mr. Barber.... She said he has ~1,400 motorcycles and ~500-600 cars in his collection. I remarked that I can't even get my wife to let me have a 3rd motorcycle (and the 2nd one is hers!) and the woman very kindly grinned and said, "Mr. Barber never married". I said, "Ahhhhh!!! so THAT'S the secret!"
On to pics. Today - Cars ![]() There were Lotuses EVERYWHERE. I wanted to find a mint Lotus Cortina, but alas it wasn't to be found. ![]() Thought I found my next dream car to buy and restore until I looked up Lotus Type 14 prices on the web when I got home! ![]() ![]() ![]() Apparently Mr. Barber still owns ALL of the museum and the track in it's entirety and was running around all weekend making sure everything was going all right. Next I'll post bike pics. I took a lot so maybe they'll get posted over a couple days |

Awesome pic's! There was a guy ( too distracted by the bike to catch his name ) that showed up at our Trials event in North Mankato MN this past weekend that I had the honor of helping him unload a Duc trials bike just like the one in your pic's. I wonder if it's the same bike? He said he had just picked it up. If it is the same bike, please take no offense but your pic does zero justice to how cool that bike was. I saw it roll in and couldn't help but stare at it. It is by far the coolest looking exotic trials bike I've ever seen and he actually rode it around the loop trail to watch Sunday's event.

Love the pics especially this one. I walked past that monstrosity for years going to and from work "pulling the wagon".

Great photos!!
I think I was there just one day before you. I was there on Friday afternoon, when they were preparing for the weekend show, to bad that I could not stay to wait for the launching of new Trophy. Thank for bringing the show here. My Baber photos are posted here, from the post #22. |
