I'm running tapered dirt bike bars because they are much stronger. You can get new risers or just adapters that fit the taper bars for cheap. I have the mini-MX, which are about 2" wider than stock, full size dirt bike bars about 4-5" wider and come in many shapes, rise, pullback, etc.

Not sure I understand the need on a streetbike. They look cooler for sure but I've never bent 7/8th bars in normal riding and if I fall steel bars are $20.

They look better too and I guess I've saved $40 so far.

Sv bars
Before I went to clip-ons, I was running black rizoma bars from pjsparts. 7/8ths, but thick walled. Nice and wide without being too wide. Really nice bars and not very expensive. 40 ish bucks I believe.

Picked up a 2002 SV650 yesterday. Rode ~60 miles with my buddy (on his GS). Amazingly smooth and comfortable compared to the DR. Tons of power, even at 70mph.

I think there was someone on SVrider.com selling top triples for this swap. May want to check there...

Is there some secret society that doles out naked SVs? I can't find anything but the bikini-faring sv650s around here. I'd love a nice sv650n :(

Do a thread search over at svrider.com. Surely it has been done.

I found some stuff and went ahead with it, amazing how resticting the factory set-up is. Rear wheel bearing is next . . . Ugh

Anyone had a chance to ride/own both ER6F (Ninja 650R) and SV650 maybe?
Would be interesting to hear about the differences, other then the obvious SV650S clip-on stuff (especially since I'm interested in the naked one only). (I owned the 650R for 5 years and put 20k miles on it, was not happy with suspension and vibrations, not crazy about brakes either but they were adequate).
