When I do the Safari Tank I will have a "beer and pizza" party for the mounting process......there is always something to do!

First year I started dirt biking I rode almost every weekend without studs the first winter.

Snowboarded / sledded one day, dirt biked the next.


All depends on the season. I guess last year it got hit hard.

I was out there today shooting and the trunk road in the south was melting, but up north still a sheet of ice. About 6-8" of snow.

Yeah, there was not hardly any snow up in Bergen Sunday when we went gunning for Yotes through Water Valley and Sundre....I thought it would have been worse after I heard about the trunk snow..lol...you never know.

And still falling. Good thing I got my big duallie all tidley on Friday after our 350km ride. Earl took us for his NE ride. Some straight gravel for sure but the sections in between were awesome. Canal roads, black dirt and twisty coolee roads through some great country. Redland, Heskith, Rosebud, Rockyford and parts in between. He has been working on this ride for over 10 years and its a good one. Who would have thought NE? hoping its not our last ride this year!

The Earl of Leisure sure has some good routes for this part of AB. The section of the TCAT between Carseland & Drumheller has his stamp all over it. Did it a few weeks back with my wife on our dual sports and had a blast.

I will try to send GPS Calgary NE route to Lav 1200.
Pavement, Gavel, Green Lane, Black dirt, Peacocks, Emus,Turkeys, lunch at Rockyford or Carbon, 300KM, 5 to 6 hours, dry conditions only. Must like prairie,blue sky, fields of wheat,barley,canola.

Always wanted to head out that way, maybe even ride the abandoned rail line along the Red Deer between Dorrothy and Finnegan. I imagine on a wet day the dirt gets the consistency of Goose

Drumheller is great fun when wet. . . .

It's worse than frozen ground covered in leaves.

I rode Drum one Febuary, I was nice but the clay was frozen about 1/4" under the (wet) surface.

I have never hit the ground harder.

We used to ride it in the winter too. It wasn't probably the frozen ground, but the layer between the top layer and the thawing layer before the frozen ground.

Like after a rain it looks good but just peels and slides away. You go around circles trying to stay upright. It's fun, but I suggest only experiencing it once =) This was on MX Trail bikes with full knobbies too!

In all honesty, it's hard on the terrain to ride wet so try to stay off it. Keeps erosion to a minimum.

Like the famous trail on CDT where it says "Impassible when wet".. Well, we didn't turn around, and sure enough for most people it probably would have been impassable. That stuff was great fun to ride but glad the full length wasn't wet because I had a few close calls at speed in a two wheel slide. Good times! We passed some trucks who decided to camp out because their progress was so slow it wasn't much point in pressing on!

Ya, I have grown up about riding in the wet, depending on the trail, it can make a disgusting mess that ruins it for everyone.

Calgarians the Dualsport is a painful reminder that Im bike-less in 2012. Still I follow my C-Town bro's here and hope next year Ill be saddling up again, and perhaps with some of you. Keep it coming.
