Interesting there is no Mass Storage mode for iPhones on the Mac. You would think Apple would allow that for one of their products. So is there a way to import photos I took on my phone into BC on the Mac? I'm assuming any photos I take with the Montana will show up on the Mac or does the lack of Mass Storage mode also come into play with the Montana on the Mac? Jon...

Thanks to both of you for the Mac / BC / Photo tips. I've been trying to use my Mac more to get away from Windows and still have a lot to learn after 20+ years with MS products.
I did not know about the "right-click->Match Photos to Tracks..." trick. Is there a thread like this one for BC so I don't clutter up this thread with my BC questions? Jon...

Display Rotates-Vibration Issues?
This happened all weekend. The faster I rode the more the display rotated . If I held on to it as I rode, it seemed to stop and stabilize.
I looked back through the thread but could not find a solution. Sorry if this has been covered already. Thanks,

Go to Setup/Display/ and lock the display in the orientation you need.

Montana yes or Montana no?
Looking to replace my now defunct eTrex and also looking to add a GPS to my KTM. Initially I was thinking of simply getting a mount for the 550 so I could simply take the Zumo from the big bike and put it on the KTM and just buy another eTrex for a handheld. However the Montana seems to do both and is a better offroad option and likely a better (more user options) GPS overall. Now the rub, I'm not a big user of all the add ons but think I'd like the option to rotate from portrait to landscape and might be more likely to become a GPS Jedi with a little education on the benefits and uses.
So Montana yes or Montana no? CanadianX screwed with this post 10-30-2012 at 06:06 AM |

Yes. It'll beat the heck out the eTrex for your offroading. That alone is worth it.

Another big one is the "Rugged Mount" which solves all the power problems - no more USB only power source. And the wireless transfer feature is something many people don't think they'll ever need until someone offers to send them a track/route but there's no computer around to do it with.

I've been going nuts for months trying to find a good GPS solution for my needs. I am currently at about 90% street and 10% dirt, but have been moving more and more towards the dirt exploration end of the spectrum lately. After much deliberation, I ordered the Montana 600 today from GPS City. I didn't order any maps, as I'm hoping to be able to find some free online maps. Worst case, I end up braking down later and ordering the Western US DVD. I'm still in shock that I spent that much on a GPS, but I'm VERY excited to get it in my hot little hand and start messing with it. Thank you all, in advance, for your patience with my inevitable stupid questions.
