About every 3 years (since 1998) we do an EPIC (at least 30 day) ride together. Our next friends epic trip will be a 66-day across 4 South American countries, catching a World Cup Soccer game in Brazil, riding to the "Lost World" plateau on the border of Bolivia/Brazil (the place that spawned the idea of 'Jurassic Park') and to Iguazu Falls in Argentina/Brazil just mention a few.

Or I could do a free (short) seminar for the ADVer dreaming about doing their own version of the famed Alaska to Tierra del Fuego run. I know there is beer to be drunk, but maybe some 'dream catching' in the middle of it all would be good too!

Ok, I am still thinking about this and want to wrap it up soon. If this idea makes you mad, I want to know. If this idea makes you happy, I want to know. At this point I have gotten more yeah's than opposed. But not enough to make me all warm and fuzzy about doing this. Actually, no one has opposed. Just I don't really care. I have actually gotten a couple of bids already. Which would have to be resubmitted if we do this, just saying. Full disclosure and all. Transparency in the office.

If someone prefers the race to the leanto's over a bid process, let me know that.

The one thing I do not want is anyone to be irritated that the rules of the game changed after the game started.

Just to refresh your memory on the proposed process:

7 leanto's:

Bid by PM to shrineclown

High bid will be posted in op, but not the bidder, silent auction for those who prefer anonymity.

Bids in $10 increments so it is not a nightmare to manage.

Bidding will end on 9/11/13.

E-mail paypal confirmation to charity to cromagadvrally@gmail.com by 9/13.

In the event of non-payment: leanto will be offered, to all in the annual thread, at the high bid and the first to say "dibs" and donate gets it, no bidding at that point. If the number was crazy, it will be offered at the highest donated amount for a leanto. Just cause I know folks will ask "what if."

Sound fair? Changes you want to see?
Be sure if you are going in with someone/s on a leanto that you are not bidding against each other since you will not know who the high bidder is. A communication challenge.

As, the originator of the idea suggested, if no one bids or some are not bid on, it will be the FCFS format again.
