I bought one of these Savage .22s Wednesday and broke in the barrel by shooting all kinds of ammo rapid fire through it.:D

Anyway it shoots best with CCI Blazer, even better than with SK Standard Plus. Tried Federal Match and a couple of others, but glad it likes the Blazer, my favorite cheap ammo. At the end I was getting 1/4" groups at 50 yds with it about 2 out 3 times, with one or two flyers ruining the group that didn't make it. Also the Accutrigger was still too heavy for me screwed down to the minimum (2.5 lbs), so I cut a couple of layers of the spring off to bring it down to about 1.25 lbs and will try that today. Love the tac bolt and the composite stock which provides the lil gun with great balance, much better than the Mk II BVT, which probably shoots a little better.
Here are two 5-shot groups shot with CCI Blazer today. The bottom is four shots in one hole and one off to the left a little:

    de Santis pocket for mine.

    Slick little 9.

He was referring to the R vs. O bullshit.

You are right on about the pricing. Ammoe, guns, mags - ridiculous.

almost bought the deSantis but it looked a bit low-cut, was worried the grip would print. If I decide I really like pocket carry I may upgrade to one of the fullsize leather types that look like a wallet from the outside.

Plus the blackhawk was under $15.

no offense intended, by the way

    Was a Cabelas impulse buy.

Cause I didn't figure a pocket holster for a G29 would work at all. :lol3

Hey, thanks! :thumb I've been looking at buying some more of those, and best price I was finding is just under $11 per. Unless the shipping is stupid high, I'll be ordering a bunch from there this weekend.

Which stemmed from the $$ comment, I believe.

Either way, we gotta stop the fake panic. Which is a bi-partisan totally legit gun topic. Realistically neither side is going to mess with guns, its become the '3rd rail' that nobody wants to mess with. The only ones who win when we talk up shortages or rumors about legislation, is PMC and Winchester and Hornady... We just need to settle down and buy normally.

I'd like to be in a biz where a few forwarded emails gone viral will allow me to charge 40% more for my product for 5 or 10 years with no accompanying increase in production costs.

Now of course, if the stocking up of ammo is related to impending zombies, I totally get that...

I thought they didn't move fast enough to get that far away?

I use the beer in a bowl trick for my garden. Less nose and no lead in the veggie patch...:rofl

some 12G 3" slug muzzle velocity is over 2K FPS, plenty of reason for a scope.!

My question is where the hell is all this ammoe that has been bought up over the last four years? It surely isn't being shot at the rate it's being purchased, and eventually these people have to hit the wall on how much they need, and quit buying it. At some point, I would expect the market to get flooded with "tired of waiting on the zombies" sales and plummet the ammoe prices back to normal.....:dunno

That being said, I have a shipment of 3k+ rounds of 9mm coming via ups right now. :lol3

A 12 ga. rifled barrel, scoped gun, shooting the sabot type slugs, is deadly and accurate out to 100yd.
My buddy has one set up like that and it will hammer deer size game out to 100yd, he has dropped a few in their tracks.

Even foster slugs out of a smooth bore can do that, the issue is taking the time and money to figure out exactly what brand/round your shotgun likes.

Rifled with brennekes and especially sabots can go much further, but again you have to spend time and money to find a consistent load.

I have ghost ring sights on my 590. I've been happy with them as an overall package for different types of loads. I could see a scope being helpful with slugs only though.

hand held w/o rest at 60-70fts
I really like this scope, the eye relief is great and super fast to find target.

I hear ya, if I put a scope on mine it'd have to be variable power down to around 1x so it could double as a quick aquisition sight, but even then that's stretching it a bit.
