So there I was the Hummel and gwpanther both dead on the battlefeild and still no x5. Only thing left in the garage needin the x5 is my trusty Wespe. could not hit the barn much less the door all week. Gas her up and roll out with no great expectations, and low and behold I got a top gun with 8 shots. Go figure

Glad you like it. With the x5 today I had an about 8800 XP game with it. Crappy thing is that I already had the T30 researched and bought by that time... but I ran it all that way without upgrading the tracks, so they will be the last part to research. I found I liked it so much that I kept it when I really needed the extra silver to upgrade the new T30 and Patton. (The T30, so far, does not compare, but then it doesn't have the best parts on it, and it's a new 75% crew)

You two talking about your Pattons and win rates have me depressed. After really assessing all the Pattons I've ever seen - especially those over the last three months as my M26 got closer to researching it - I decided that I don't really want such a paper-thin tank. Problem was that this sale came up and... well... I had it researched, where-as I am no where near having the T-54 researched. So now I own one.

Thankfully owning one coincides with being able to use Gold rounds in it for doubles and such, but it will be a long time until I get the best gun. I used something like 24000 or 27000 free XP to get the tracks on it since it's damned near useless without them (it can't hold a better gun than stock, nor many additional modules like binocs or whatever without the tracks).

I finally broke down and downloaded it Wednesday. Dammit... I didnt need another game to waste hours on. The tier 1 tanks really kinda suck...

Well, with the longest 90mm and gold rounds the Patton is... interesting.

I had a great game for my x5, ( 1,572XP x 5) where it was looking like a bad start, so I followed a BatChat as he went crazy and headed straight for the enemy base. Broke off my run after making a bunch of hits on a Lorraine, then was chased by a T-54 back to the center where my guys could shoot at him... so I turned around and killed him.

But then I got surrounded by Type 59's in another game and had less support than it looked like (they were there, but died... without damaging anything), and the Patton was an immediate fail in that situation.

Until I get the biggest gun on it it will have to be used to support other medium tanks' pushes.

Even with the big gun you have to be careful. It's fast enough you can easily get too far ahead and then you are SOL because it can't take much of a beating. I usually try to stay with a group and play the support roll
Stock it is useless, but being a tier 9 it can't afford to be if you want to win. So if you run it stock, odds are you will loose(as I did many times).
As soon as you get the tracks and some goodies, it works fine (My win rate went up immediately). My mistake was not getting the tracks first. I didn't realize it HAD to have them to mount anything worthwhile. That put me even farther behind the curve.

Also, I think the Patton tends to get targeted early. With the big gun it can put the hurt on, but with the crap armor it is a pretty easy kill so people want to get it out of the way early.

You're probably right about the Patton, which means it's a tier 9 that I'm mostly only going to play with platoon mates I trust... which means it will be a rarely played tank unless some of my clan mates are grinding tier 9's right now. Actually, I've only met a handful of players who play tier 9's well - most seem to want the hell out of their tier 9's as soon as possible.

I'm accepting Abbey better than the ocean side of the valley in El Haluf, but slowly am getting used to both.

I spent most of my time at bases on Abbey after the change since I was grinding my TD, but also used the hilly side to take on an E-50 and some other tanks in my Patton... and it was good. The low road - I've only been on it three times, and just down onto it - so I still have no clue what the middle looks like.

I really need to spend some time in a training room to get to know the maps better.
