What's it worth?
What do you think this is worth?
![]() Citizen Eco-Drive model BL5345-59H barely used, but slight scratch on crystal that I'm guessing could be polished out

Don't sweat it Chad this thread tends to ebb and flow a bit. As far as what your watch may be worth I found some new ones of that model at a couple different places that are asking around $400 so I would probably start it somewhere in the $300s and be happy if I got somewhere between $200-300.

Steering away from the high end, shiny watches...
I ordered this Casio Mudman G-Shock from Sears.ca last week...the Sears site indicates it's a solar model. ![]() However, everything I've found on the Casio site indicates it isn't solar. Anyway, the watch arrived a couple of days ago and when I went to pick it up at Sears, I confirmed there's no indication on the watch or in the accompanying manual that it's solar. 'Course, Sears wouldn't do anything for me (i.e. let me have it at a reduced price) so I returned it. I'm still looking for a solar model G-Shock as a beater watch...

My Planet Ocean is getting more wrist time lately. If I could get the *#$%$ strap off so I could slide on one of the NATO bands Linzi got me it would get much more.

So the local Rolex shop was open last night and I strolled by to have a look.....
they almost have one of each model in stock at the moment, the owner of the shop is quite proud of that. He also has a a fair few other limited edition wathes in stock at the moment. but I digress. It got me thinking about how one would verify the authenticity of a watch?. Sure, buying it from an authorized dealer is going to increase reliability, but, if they can fake airplane parts and then they get sold by authorized dealers, they can do watches as well. How would you verify that you were getting a legitimate item, not a knock off? Hay Ewe

Just brought two of my Citizen Promasters in to the Citizen Service Centre.
This one needs a battery and cover replaced on the altimeter...(crappy pic from the 'net): ![]() This one (also a 'net pic) needs a new strap, new battery and paint touch-up on the 12 o'clock position on the bezel: I may just replace the gasket in the back of my beater Casio...still pondering...

It starts at the dealer and no dealer wants to get caught selling a fake. Keep your records, your receipts, etc. as you should for any major purchase. |
