Fatfoot for BMW factory short sidestand

Just sent off another fatfoot for the BMW factory short sidestand.
I have two more on hand. They are hand fabricated with a diamond plate aluminum base and come with countersunk stainless steel hardware. Comes in a satin black powdercoated finish. 2HE

R1200GS skidplates

I just sent off a skidplate set to Bill Shaw. It was my very first set powdercoated in gloss black. They looked very sharp. They should be there in just a couple of days. Thanks. Ernie

Matter of fact, Ill be away mostly on business (in the US: Texas, Arizona, Utah, California) so wont be too reachable until mid-May. Installation Question

It has been about 5 years since I installed my skid plate on my 2007 GS Adv.
Last week I finally took if on some unpaved roads. I know, that is sad.

I had some kind of failure that caused the rubber mounts to shear. Can someone remind me if the mounts for this skid plate are the ones from the stock skid plate or were they provided by Ernie. I am having trouble getting in contact with Ernie, thought I would pick the brains of the other owners.

Thanks,

Ernie has taken a hiatus and he did not know when he would be back. I edon't recall if the spacers came with Ernies kit.

Probably could source them from McMaster-Carr (www.mcmaster.com). Do a search for "rubber sandwich mount" and you should be able to match something up.

Just wanted to share my experience. I had my skid plate come off this past summer up in the mountains of Colorado. I turned around and picked it up. Even though I ran over it on a gravel road at about 40+ mph, I could not see any imperfections caused by the removal and it getting run over.

Looks like the right front Allen screw must have come out before the departure. The other three rubber mounts were sheered.

So when I went back, I ordered the parts from he HP2 to allow for more solid mounting. I am going to have to rethink this method of attachment. I think I am going to get some kind of rubber spacers. The Aluminum plate solidly mounted to the motor just makes a lot of noise. At certain rev levels, it sounds pretty cool though.

Hey Dirtrideroader,
I bet you have a 2005 GS. They came with rubber isolators in all four corners.
I always recommend that they be switched over to the HP2 solid front mount. The newer model GS's come with the solid mount now.
Thank you.
Ernie
