Thanks, I will be updating some more stuff here shortly. I just need to get the time.

Today I just bought a 1.75 gal Rotopax fuel container to mount to the luggage rack. I will center it and have a piece of aluminum on the underside for stability and to reduce any fatigue/wear on the CF.

I have really enjoyed this build! I will continue to modify and add to on the bike as I go along. All this prep is for my ride to Alaska in 2014 as well as anything that occur in between.

Does anyone remove upper the plastic nose. Does it have any "function"?
I am thinking of removing it and fit the aux lights there.

The upper nose or "beak" acts as another fender to catch anything the low fender doesn't before it flies upwards. If you remove it and retain the lower fender you may notice an increase of debris flying into your head lights etc... If they are protected it shouldn't be a big deal but if you mount auxiliary lights there which often aren't protected they could take a tremendous beating. If you were to remove the beak I would recommend a full conversion or leaving it stock.

Thank you for your advice. Just owning the bike for a few month and only riding about 1000miles on road only so I have no experience.
I should think of other solution to mount the aux-light. They are currently being mount on the crash bar and I am not happy with it at all.

I have mine mounted right next to my head lights, also some people have made a piece of metal that wedges in between the beak and below head lights that extends out farther on each side and they mount them there. Check out this thread for some ideas

So I just recently sanded down the luggage rack (removed the flat black) and I used plastidip to cover the whole CF portion, this stuff is pretty cool! I did a fair amount of research and it can essentially be pealed off if I do not like it with minimal effort but holds up pretty darn well. I coated the whole thing so if I wanted to peel it I would have to make a small nick/cut somewhere to start the removal. I covered a small portion of residual CF to test this with. Regardless it does what I want it to do, increases the friction and protects everything.

Will post pictures in a few days when I get the new bolts to mount it.

A few people asked where I relocated my horn, here it is on the left side, I had to bend the bracket a bit but it worked out great.



So today I finally finished the rear luggage rack and it worked out great because I got my 1.75 gal rotopax too.

Rear luggage rack bolt pattern, I will put the bolt lengths and spacer sizes tomorrow. This was mounted w/a BMW pannier rack on the front. (The lines on the side were made to ensure I was square)

Ouch..... Beak.......lights..... anything else bad...????

Broke the fender, cracked both sides of the fairing, twisted the advmonster light bar, broken right signal switch, tail light and part of the assy around it, dented the muffler, tweaked the rear subframe and rear rack, scratched the wind screen badly but other than that I rode it home.

Good times.

Jeez, glad you're alright! That looks pretty gnarly. Let me know if you need any help with stuff. Were you riding in the ice or did you just happen to find it?
