How hard can it be to avoid people with stepladders? I'm in! (Hm.)

Past ride reports always visible on "Eating on Two Wheels"

(Currently chronicling my summer tour, although I took a bit of a hiatus in the chronicling part. Perhaps I should get back to that, but now Baja recon distracts me...)

I may be able to adjust things so I land in PV on Nov 25. TVIP expires 29. Flight lands in the late afternoon so no riding that day. 4 days to the souther border...doable?

Looking for route suggestions and border crossing options. Are any of them 24 hours in the south?

Thanks

Don't be suprised when u land at PV aduana will ask you how many days for your "New" tourist card . If its like 3 or 4 days its possibly free.

So. Hullo, all!
Tossing around the idea of riding from Tucson to Cabo for holiday break (on either the Yamaha or Kawi - I'd leave the Ducati at home). By my female self. I'm comfortable touring by myself, camping by myself, and speak a bit of Spanish, but have yet to delve into Mexico.
Plain dumb?
Adventurous as long as I'm "careful?"
Thoughts, please, while I wade through the 700+ pages of this thread.
Check Hewby's RR. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=825139

She is riding solo. Should give you some insight. Baja is quite safe with friendly people.

Have a great ride and be sure to let us know

It used to be free for three days. Don't know if it still is.

Shh! Don't tell the gringos we are talking in Canuck code.
If our american friends think Obama is a socialist it's too bad they were never exposed to Trudeau No 1. It would provide some perspective. The offspring is probably worse. Looks like I'll be able to take the three minute drive to WA state and smoke legally

Legal is the question. It is still against U.S. law regardless of what the state thinks. This is going to be a field day for lawyers. At least they will be employed; although not productively.

"Sigh".....some things never change.

The conflict between Federal law and Washington's and Colorado's new legislation (constitutional amendment in Co.'s case) will not cause litigation. The supremacy clause in the U.S. Const. resolves this in favor of the Feds. It is only a question of whether they want to waste their time enforcing the federal prohibition of mj. So, no lawyer bonanza on this one.

The enforcement will come in the form of denying fed funds such as highway to the states, thus causing the states to have to spend money overturning their own law.

Banjercito

Is it lost on the "noobs", and I am kind of a "noob", that the Banjercito is the bank of the Mexican Military! Get a grip ladies. These guys do not f*** around. Evidently petty immigration officials also wield a certain measure of independent power. If they don't like you face they are not going to let you stay in their country for 180 days. Just slow the hell down and smile. We do things differently here in the lower 48 than they do in Alaska. SP never got that and we gave her a good spankin'. Further south in NA they do things a lot differently. Get used to it and drop the attitude. DWJ Donnie is a shining example of how to get along with our neighbors... read his stuff and look at his pix. If you are going to Mex only because you want to get f***ed that is exactly what you will get. You can stand on the deck of an aircraft carrier (or the AIDS ward) with a smug look and your mission accomplished banner. We arrogant nortenos will never unravel Mexico... it had an advanced civilization before we "white" guys got here/there. Spend more time reading and less time bleeding.

I don't post much here because I have very limited experience in Mexico, but I do a lot lurking because I'm hoping to travel more in Mexico and I'm trying to learn everything I can. I've gotten many good bits of information from this thread and I really, really appreciate it - many thanks to you guys with all the experience who post here.

But . . . I'd really like to thank you guys for the entertainment. You guys are seriously funny - this is the most entertaining thread I've stumbled across so far - keep up the good work gentleman.
