My usual answer is "Naw, it's well above freezing." If it is below freezing, then I will substitute "zero" in place of freezing.

I am not sure what I will say if I am on the bike in Canada in sub-freezing temperatures.

You think all motorcyclers smoke or something?

Yes, I do smoke, but that's not the point.
Hmmm, maybe the cigarette hanging outta your mouth was a hint.

It's rare that I get asked for a cig. I get asked for a light a lot though. I used to be nice when I had my Goldwing, just tell them, "one sec", push the automotive style lighter in, and a bit later they had an old school light.

Of course, they went and pissed me off because then they just started using it when I wasn't there, so I started locking it in the trunk.

Got that last Saturday morning, too. But then it was 23F when I left my house. I just laughed and said "no ice on the road!"

I get that all the time now. I stopped at this cafe, and a bloke commented something about getting too cold to ride, it was 3c=35f, i said i ride ski-doo's and ski when it's -20c, -4f, so it's actually a good riding weather. He said he never thought of it that way.
My hands were fucking freezing, but i wasn't going to tell him that

My favorite:

We were on some sort of single track with the 950/990's and came upon a group of riders taking a break on little bikes 2-strokes and 450's. We had to stop cause they were blocking the trail. While waiting to go past one of them looked at us and asked if we were lost.

I just said no we were on our way to lunch.

In '08 I rode from Vancouver to Toronto in the last week of Nov.

Snow in Roger's Pass, and north of the Great Lakes.

The snow in the Rockies was not much trouble.

The snowstorm north of the 'Lakes would have been doable if it hadn't been night, and

if the road wouldn't have kept meandering about.

Kept my heels on the ground like outriggers so I knew what vertical was...

I went off the road 4 times before I found a motel.

I'm afraid I don't recall anybody saying anything stupid to me.

Hell, nobody ever says ANYTHING to me, except for cops.

Some KTM Humor today

Driving home from work today. Bunch of people having a car wash. Truck was dusty I pull in and get it washed. Very nice people sad story. Take the truck home and get wifes bike, BMW X country and head back down for a wash. Girls liked it as they didnt have to jump to reach the top. Keep in mind I have the only bike in the parking lot,Plus the only fellow in gear holding an Arai helmet. One of the car wash guys not 10' away goes(Wow who the hell brought a bike to get washed? Crickets chirp and the girls all laugh.
Take it home and get the Suzuki DR-200. Again girls think its Neat i brought a bike to get washed. I leave and go home.
Get the KTM 990 ADV warmed up, Ride down to the lot. They wash it and again the fellow comes over and after looking at the bike says. (What is that? Some kinda dirt bike) Me yep its a dual sport. The guys says you mean its got plates on it. Yep I rode it here. Then he asks( can you ride it anywhere?) I say sure I take it lots of places.
He asks how big the fuel tank is. I show him the dual tanks. Here it comes.
He says I just bought a 2012 Yamaha Star 1800cc vagina slide XYZ something or other. Lots of crome he says.
He then asks me( Could you ride that bike to Los Angeles?) I said sure its about a 2 hour ride.
Deer in the headlights look. You mean you could ride a bike that far he asks. Sure no problem I say. He says thats way to far to ride. I then noticed his wife in the background rolling her eyes and giving me the look ( sorta a dont give him any ideas look).
So I again gave condolences to the girls, fired the bike and rode the long way hope to dry it off.

Back in the days... So, you ride a crotch rocket. That's dangerous. (as opposed to your HD, scooter, tourer being much safer)

Now... single sided swingarm huh? Did they fix that flexing issue with those? - Ok this only happened once but I found the question very annoying for some reason. What is it with people wanting to sound smart all the time about any given topic, hobby, whatever the case might be.

My favorite response to this is: "Well, I've never had it over 205." If you whisper conspiratorially, it adds to the drama.

Of course, I've never had my bike past 150 and it tops out soon after that, but it's also technically true that I have never had it over 205 mph.

This time of year I get a lot of the same 'How do you stay warm in this weather' type of stuff.
I usually just point to the Gerbings controller clipped ot my jacket and say 'works just like your car heater'.
