2 Co-Workers killed

2 people that work for my company were killed last week in Mexican state of Coahuila. I did not have much for details at this point other than they were there working in the water treatment side of our company. It is causing my company to seriously reconsider where and if we do business in Mexico.

I did not know these people personally but it does bring things closer to home. I am still returning to Mexico Nov 25. I am not sure at which point enough verified incidents are cause for me to adjust where I go in Mexico or to stop traveling to Mexico as a whole but this is a data point that swings the pendulum in the wrong direction.

I've tried to search for that six different ways but can't find anything related.

To me or SR? I have a pretty generic article from my company. More of an incident release than any information

AK Smitty,
it is very sad that your companies employees lost their lives. I hope that the new Mexican president does a better job at ending the violence. Not to minimize the tragic loss of life, but basing decisions on whether to travel in Mexico on this is an overreaction. The incidence of workplace violence has taken hundreds of lives in the US. Gang violence hundreds more.

To me it is a data point. One data point does not constitute a trend. That being said eventually for some enough data points will create a trend and likely not a positive one.

I dont consider a killing(or two in this case) an incident in the work place in the US or Mexico. This also was not a disgruntled co-worker. As I have said it is just a data point and is not changing my approach or plans. One can not be overly informed and I place the same or greater value on peoples positvie experiences and ride reports through Mexico.

Mexico has many great things to offer and right now those out-weigh what I see as limited risks when it comes to random violence taking place on me or someone I am with.

It's sad to hear of losses like this. However this kind of stuff happens in a lot of places.
This doesn't change my (positive) thoughts on traveling in Mexico. I practice situational awareness no matter where I travel. Its just what you have to do.

If I understand this correctly, it's effective 180 days after it was published in the National Diary, May 18th? So it should start the 18th of November, this Sunday

I'll believe it when I see it!!

If you read it carefully, it says the effective date is now April 1st.

Border Crossing

I will soon be making my first solo crossing or the US/Mexican border on my moto. Any thoughts on bike and cargo security while I am getting the Visa and TVIP processed inside a building where I can't see the bike. Thanks.
