for anyone interested in a bit of humor, here's the latest hot topic in the usc - ucla rivalry:
Trojans agree to UCLA's request that their drum major not plant the sword at midfield before the pregame show Saturday. But some fans won't let it go. link: http://www.latimes.com/sports/colleg...7007753.column personally, I agree with the opinion piece. I think it is taunting and typical of sc arrogance. what a bs "tradition." that said, I'm a bruin so I probably can't be impartial. |

I wasn't aware of this USC thing. I wouldn't allow an opponent to do that on my field.
FSU has a similar tradition...BUT..they only do it home. And only against UF does he get of the horse first. Pretty good stuff for a clown college.

The corrupt assholes at the NCAA had no qualms about banning a <$50k a year tutor at Florida State for three years, but have never ever touched a D1 Head coach in Football or Basketball. What a total crock of shit. If you want to clean up college Football/Basketball have the penalties go with the HC as well as the institution.

Last home game this year for the Lobos today. Going to be a tough one vs Nevada. Unfortunately with last weeks loss against Wyoming they are out of the Bowl Picture. But that sentence says a lot.
A team that had been 1-11 for three years state actually being able to think "bowl". Great job kids. Now let's beat Nevada and ColoSt (next week)UNM will need a QB or Gautsche will need to learn to pass. Now defenses have learned-- every play two guys tackle Carrier whether he has the ball or not. UNM needs to have the pass as an option in their option attack. Next week in Houston to watch Tulane vs Houston with the family. Should be fun.

Bob Davie's done a great job in his first year. Watching UNM against AFA I couldn't help but feel that they'll be a force to contend with in another season or two. It's hard to believe that the school's administration made this smart a decision after the colossal f*ckup they made hiring the previous coach. Geez, what a nightmare that guy was.
