Pledge polish for helmet visors?

Yeah, like the furniture polish?

At the place I am working now (aircraft mechanic working on 2 wwii waco biplanes) they use furniture polish for the plexi windscreens. They got they idea from some of the guys in the warbird community. There is an outfit with 3 mustangs nearby that I have now seen using it. I think the idea is that it keeps water beading and bug/dirt from sticking. No harm to any of these 60 year old aircraft from what I have seen.

Anyone else ever heard of this and wouldnt it work just as good on a helmet?

Been using it for about 4 years - aerosol in the tank bag always. Great stuff.,

Been using it for years on visors and windscreens, also makes a decent tire mounting lube. Always carry a can in the trunk.

Using it on helmet visors for about 7-8 years now. Works great on plastic moorsikle panels too.

I've been using it since 1994 when I got my first decent AGV helmet. I like the multi surface kind the best. It works great on Jeep soft top windows also.

Has been used at least 20 years. Visors, windshields, fairings; I think GoldWings used to come with a case of it in the trunk.

FWIW,

It has always smelled just like Plexus, seems to work just about as effectively but costs MUCH less and is available everywhere.

Of course now someone will jump in here and state that Plexus is expensive because it has a unique molecular structure which creates a chemical barrier to bug bodies. And it is formulated from the secretions of gnat intestines. And works equally well as a condiment.
(anyone remember SNL's "Shimmer"- the floor wax/desert topping?)

Where we live I have to order Plexus online or ride 4 hours round trip for the privilege of purchasing a can of their aerosol gold- not that there is anything wrong with THAT.

Been using Pledge for the last year or so. Don't see any difference yet......

Bring on the chemical engineers.

I use Pledge on my bike, my helmet, and the shield on my helmet. It is VERY safe. Also leaves the surface a bit oily so bugs and grime do not stick.

That said, I have S100 (similar to Plexus) in my sidebag, and it works better than Pledge. Also a ton more spensive.

I use Lemon Pledge on my bike and windshield but I use Moto Solutions Rain Coat on my visors. It works better for the Wet-side of Oregon

I used to use Pledge exclusively until the visor on a Caberg helmet discolored. I couldn't be sure the Pledge was at fault, but all modern helmet mfgrs recommend using only dish soap and water. I picked-up a small spray bottle at WalMart, fill it with water and add a couple drops of Dawn...works a charm cutting oily residue and bugs. My riding buddies continue to use Pledge with no problems...oh well!

I knew someone who always used Pledge to shine his bikes with. It worked great but seemed to attract bees when he was stopped

I use Pledge on my helmet and visor - and use it at work too, for slow seat belts. If they are slow to recoil, spay the webbing and they work like new..
