He was out of the race relatively early on, but kept riding the route and showing up everywhere. The ASO was pretty annoyed with him, and he wasn't very nice about staying out of the way of people who were still in the competition.

Motor in that thing seemed to rip, though!

There is something about Rallye bikes that I just love. Its like F1 eye candy to me. The bikes seem extra exotic which remind me of the old days of the "works" bikes in MX.
On a different note, One of my bucket list items is to see a Dakar Race in person. Is it difficult to do? Does one rent a car to follow the race? I have no idea on where to start finding information so I thought I would start here. Thanks

Funny you sent that as I just looked at that from another thread. I was shocked at the price of a ride along but it would be a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Can these guys help ? http://www.facebook.com/pages/Pickerings-RTW-Tours-Dakar-Rally/257216860985947?ref=stream

I was thinking about going with them and the prices they were quoting did not seem too bad. But the flight costs from the UK killed it for me :cry:cry:cry

Not much I'm afraid, they appear to have huge financial problems, almost all of their bikes, vans and gear was repossessed after returning to Europe from the Moroccan rally.

It's a shame for sure, I hear that the prototype rally bikes were the only ones not repossessed so there is a very slim chance they could still do the Dakar. I doubt it though.
