I'm not around so can't help out. Weather looks just right temp wise

Thanks Fred! At least *someone's* on my side...

My technique was not good up that hill and a better rider would have made it quite happily. It was pure dogged determination that got it that far...

I have flipped that bike backwards on other hills (far and away from any camera), fortunately without any damage as the screen and mirrors were off. It was a wonder it did not flip on that hill.

But (serious hat on) - the things I learnt about off-road riding, and the places I saw made it all worth it. And to reassure the noobs here - we took a wrong turn, some of us did, and ended up what was essentially a one-way track. We were not supposed to go down the "cliff" that we did go down, and to get back up for some of us would have been futile and maybe dangerous. Hence a detour and the climb up this hill. Usually the rides are a whole lot more gentle and more conducive to teaching confidence and skills...

Thanks for organizing this Karl. Unfortunately I can't make it as I broke my bike's rear subframe a couple of weeks ago & it's still at the dealer being repaired. At least he said I did a good job of it (jumping on fire trails at Belanglo).

I've ridden the course you've mentioned several times & it's all easy going. It's fun though, just getting out & about & seeing parts of Sydney's surrounds that most don't get to experience, plus of course meeting some like-minded riders.

Let's hope there will be a few more rides posted up, including some with a little more technical terrain.

Barring last minute problems I will be at Richmond Maccas in the morning.

I have pasted a link to what I think is your planned route [I've done this run and variations several times before].

I had to plot the route in pushbike mode because google wouldn't do via the dirt roads in car mode....bloody PITA when it won't let you plot gazetted dirt roads.

As I live near Windsor I will be coming home via Mangrove Mountain, Wiseman's Ferry and the River Road back to Pitt Town and Windsor.

For anyone short on fuel tank size, topping off at Kurmond BP then again at Wiseman's and again at Jerry's Cafe [I think they have fuel there] at Kulnura should negate anyone running out of fuel.

StAlbans pub is expensive to eat at, Wiseman's would be a better choice for those who won't be carrying food.

Coffee is good at Jerry's [well it was a year or so back when I was over there].

All good, however I suggest we go a little further up Bells Line and turn into Mountain Lagoon road which is a good piece of dirt for newbies.
No problem on the GS - took a Japanese tourist through there not long ago.

As minusone said up bells line of rd to Bilpin then via Mt Lagoon is the way to go.

Got to watch out for the 4WDrivers on Mt Lagoon Rd. as well, they don't like to give you any room there for some reason [not down on 4WDrivers, I'm one as well, but just seems they are road hogs on that section].

Look for this at Maccas- but without the top box on.
