Looking for guidance on what to look for in this bike that would be a red flag. The price is around $1500. No rips in seat, new clutch, new brakes but didn't start last time I saw it but owner said his mechanic would have it running .

I got my '95 DR350 a few months ago for $1100. It didn't have an odometer (dirt model) but the previous owner swore it had less than 2k miles. I believe him still since the bike didn't have a scratch.

Thanks for the quick feedback Markk900 and Rugged.

The guy doesn't know much about bikes and is selling to pay for surgery for his dog.

I did notice the seat looks like it has an extra layer (patch perhaps) of material on that section that goes up over the tank but is the same material as the OEM seat ...is that nornal? There are not a lot of pictures on line that show close up details.

I wouldn't worry about that too much, I replaced my seat cover (couldn't stand the bright yellow color) for $19 with a new cover from ebay.

I notice you also have a TTR250 - I'm also looking at that bike locally but there are not a lot of after market pieces available -dual sport kits , headlights, etc. Any thoughts?

The TTR250 is a tank. I wouldn't bother making it street legal because I think it tops out around 55 or so (someone correct me if I'm wrong). But it is a very stout and heavy bike. Someone gave me the TTR250 plus $600 for my KTM620 that had electrical issues.

I rode it as my primary offroad bike for the past year and enjoyed the hell out of it. It has a pumper carb but lacks on power, it is a great learner's bike. We sold my wife's CRF100 and she is riding the TTR now.

Skeeter: My wife has a CRF230, which we bought from my buddy who had it from new. Its a really decent offroad bike (no complaints about power or weight) and seems to have good aftermarket support for lights, etc. You might check it out as an alternative.

have a friend that has a CRF so I've already considered that .

Looking at a DRZ 250 with little use today. They guy said he would take $1400. Only Problem is it has a gash on the swingarm where the kickstand rubbed.

Would post a picture but cant figure out how to embed one in the post...any help?

You will need to put your pictures on a picture hosting site (such as smugmug or others) and imbed/link to posts.

Depending upon the age and condition, $1400 is in the right range. Swingarm damage is common (most DR250/350s that I have seen) but still a valuable negotiating point.

1999 DR-350SE

I just replaced stock fuel petcock with the Yamaha 5LP-24500-01. Very simple replacement but still having some random idle issues. The bike starts well and idles well when cold. After a ride on back roads or highway the bike idles fine when coming to a stop. It seems that when riding slow through town the bike will not always idle when coming to a stop. It will fire up with a little throttle while hitting the electric start button when it does stall. Since it will idle sometimes and starts well I suspect that the idle jet is fine, I'm leaning towards the float needle and/or seat. Any input would be appreciated.

Don't overlook the idle fuel jet. It has a very small orifice, and easily plugs. It's important to ballance the Idle speed and idle fuel volume/mixture screws to acheive a smooth idle. Needle and seat can cause problems, but more often people find trouble with the 0-ring that secures/seals the seat.

Thanks for the reply. If it is the idle jet, would the poor idle not show up all the time? As mentioned, there are random times that it idles perfect, usually after higher rev runs.

Dont overlock a low idle. Might want to bump it up a few RPMs to see what that does for you first.

Idle should be around 1800??

Put my DR350 in the flea market

Thought I'd let everyone know I put my 1997 DR-350 in the flea market. It's in the OKC area. PM me if anyone's interested.
