I'd get around 21-23 mpg towing my Boler with my D-90 if I kept it under 65mph (of course its a diesel) but the Boler was under 1300 lbs and would only cost me a 2 to 3 mpg penalty.

Sold the Boler a few years back and now own a U-haul which weighs about 200 lbs more than the Boler.

I think I did pretty good this past weekend by getting 18 mpg with the Jeep and our ~2600 lb Fleetwood Evolution E1. This is as good as got with my YJ by itself!

On topic, we LOVE the E1. It was very reasonable in price, and is kinda like when I went from my YJ to the JK in terms of comfort going from camping off the GS to glamping with a camper. Maybe having a baby wasn't such a bad idea.

Admittedly I keep it at around 60 mph with the 55 mph limit in Kalifornistan.

Two Hondas would cost about 1k more.

High altitude camping would be hard on the Yamaha to run the a/c but I don't think I'm gonna do much high altitude camping.

Decisions decisions...

If altitude is causing problems, will you really need AC?

Only if you don't like 90+ degree weather. It can get hot at altitude, too.

I thought you lived in Birmingham. I don't think you can even buy altitude between B'ham and, and, and anywhere you're going to trailer for a bike ride/race. Can you? It come in a can or something?

I've kind of been keeping my eyes peeled for a teardrop hardwall that is light enough for moto-towing. Only seen home-built ones behind bikes though, not sure anything is out there from a manufacturer that is small / light enough. I could really get into the idea of pulling over anywhere and taking a nap with no set up.

Might be the cleanest Burro I've ever seen. Looks like it was kept in a time capsule. A little pricey but ...

I ALMOST went with this little jobber:

When Im riding I like to ride hard and late......and I dont like setup.....I just want to SLEEP and then ride some more. I dont like to spend an hour setting up camp and roasting marshmallows or chatting with the other campers.

This jobber looked about perfect.....but its $2800.

I got my Kwik Kamp used for $1300. It only weighs about 70lbs more.....allows me more storage. Actually it takes about the same time to setup. I timed myself.....alone I can set it up in 1min40sec and be inside it.

......but the main reason was cost. Ive I had more funds Id have one of these for when I was riding by myself. You could pull behind a WalMart and be asleep in 10 mins.....perfect.

That wouldn't be very wise. You never know what kind of feral animals are going to be prowling the alley behind a retail complex.

Which is why you want to sleep inside a secure box anywhere near one.
