Helmet fit problem - Big jaw

I just bought a size medium Scorpion EXO-900. My head fits the helmet just about right except my jaw hinge area and ears. I already knew that I have a larger than average jaw compared to my cranium, which is 22 3/16 around the forehead. So I got a problem with any helmet I try and it's painful after a couple hours riding.

Anyone know of a helmet that is good for a wider ear/jaw area?

The seller suggest I just go to a large size. That is what I have always done, go with a large but the cranium area then is always too big. I have a large size Noland and I have lots of stuffing in the head area to make it fit. I hear all the time to don't oversize your helmet thus my attempt with the medium Scorpion. Someone must have a helmet for big jaw types like me, any suggestions?

Is it part of the cheek pads? You can exchange cheek pads on many helmets- especially high-end helmets.

I wonder if you need a rounder shape, like a Shoei.

I have taken the fabric linings off and "massaged" the foam under them (burnisher or hard, rounded object). For me it's around the ears, but same principle applies to other offending areas. Just don't get crazy with a craft knife.

I agree that going "upsize" has some significant problems when it comes to a crash - too much slop in the brain bucket area is not a good thing.

The one Icon helmet I owned was huge in that area. I had an Icon varent in size M. I wear large in everything else and that M was still big on me in the cheeks / jaw. I end up putting cheek pads from an Xs size in it. It still was a little big on me.

I dunno. On the bright side, I don't remember my TBI at all. So how bad could it be?

Have you tried going to a store and having someone who knows what they're doing (I know, this is a tall order) measure your head. I don't mean to just measure the circumference, but also take into account your head shape, and then make helmet recommendations based off of that.

I have a good sized jaw and it is uncomfortable in my scorpion. My shoei rf-1100 fits perfectly.

If you can find somewhere local try it on.
Then call ridersdiscount (number is on their website) they should be able to get you a solid color for 325ish.

So far the only flip helmets I have found that will fit me and my jaw are the Fulmar M1 and the Shark Evoline II. There is more jaw room in the Evoline.

Fulmer are good but the new Neotec are great too.

Every helmet I have ever had were just borderline OK on the chin. The neotec is as good as any and overall its pretty good. Go try one on if you have a chance.
