Any further experience of the YSS twin shocks?

I put a YSS on my 1988 R100GS. After about 3K highway miles, it began to leak oil. I never tried to get the distributor to make it good. I sold the bike.

I've got the basic YSS twins on my W800. The springs are pretty stiff, but the damping is OK. The shocks that came with the bike were on full preload and still bottomed out with a light pillion; the YSS run fine on 2nd preload out of 4 with the same pillion. I've put about 10,000 boy-racer kilometres on mine and so far haven't had any problems. The more adjustable (and expensive) gas ones are probably better than the straight oil-damped.

YSS are based just outside Adelaide so I rode up and had a chat with Walter Presig and we fitted the shocks to the bike while I was there. Nice bloke and very helpful - and he won the 2010 MX vintage sidecar championship so he knows his stuff. An email to him via their webpage might be worth a go. IKON are the other ones that have generally good reports.

I blew up mine 2 times almost straight away - R80G/S



Sent it back to SA suspension shop to be fixed.

Once fixed it is great - I've been to the Cape York on the corrogations hour after hour fully loaded and beyond on it - now all good.

I have twin YSS shocks on my Triumph Scramber I can't fault.

I bought the basic set for my R100RS and they sure showed me the Koni's were due for some work.
The reported leaks are a concern so I'll watch that closely. The assembly date written on the package was 2007 and I'm unsure what to make of that, whether seals might be at risk or not?
So far they feel pretty good, but I'll watch for that leak.
