One more climb from here and it should be a huge downhill to the car. No. Wait. The road shouldn't be dropping off of this side of the ridge, did I just feel a raindrop? Now my chain is bent.

We made it in time for dinner.

What's that, Steamers? Whoa...talk about crowded. Sure EC doesn't see nice, clean, good size swell all that often but it's never like that. Not even in the summer on an inlet point. Geez, man. And then they add sharks to the mix, too. No wonder CA is filled with territorial little pricks, every wave when not intimidating is a party one there.

4:50 on the road today. 81 mi. and 6500' of climbing. It was a lot of work for a ham sandwich, but it was a pretty good sandwich.

thats Cowells, which is the grom run inside of Steamers. Steamers is out around the point, to the right of my field of view.

I shot that pic cuz I'd never seen so many clowns out there in glassy water like that.

the waves are just a bit bigger out at Steamers, this was on thanksgiving day, late afternoon. was using an unfamiliar P&S camera so was having trouble with action pics.

a swell hits the outer reef, just about to crest

bike work stands...

hey, what you bike wrenches (gummie, etc) think of this as a budget workstand? I'm thinking of attaching it to a telephone pole in my driveway, actually. its my outdoor workshop area.

these sell for like $50 or so as a 'workbench bicycle clamp', but I see no reason it can't be bolted to a vertical surface, given sufficiently hurkey lag bolts.

The Pro Elite does have a few whiz bangs that my stand doesn't. The biggest is the ease of using the clamp.

...but mine's doing just fine. I collapse it down and take it to races 'just in case.'

Pricepoint is having a Cyber monday sale and the Park stands are on sale for 19-21% off.

That clamp makes a huge difference. My MTB partner has the Elite and I have the standard. His is so much easier to get a bike into the clamp. I've had mine, several years. It's being held together with hose clamps. Once it completely gives out, I'll get an Elite.

I have the Pro Classsic. In terms of cycling monies spent, it's probably the best thing I've ever bought that I couldn't ride.

I'm asking for a bike stand for Christmas so I appreciate the recommendations.
