Drat! I just pulled out the manual and it describes a "battery protection" on page 108, stating that grips may shut down in low speed and/or stop and go riding to protect battery. FWIW, I have simultaneously run 90watt liner off batt past couple rides. I am just kinda thinking this is what I'm experiencing: the battery protection thing that I describe as "cycling". Will have to see if I notice it more in town than on highway. Rides so far have been short and mix of city/highway.

Shouldn't be a big deal for the dealer to check, and if you guys don't experience this then I'm guessing she's got a lil' electrical issue. When I get around to it I will figure it out and give an update. In the mean time, I'm gonna ride!

Are you using the grip heater at full blast? Just curious.

I use a heated jacket liner and the grip heat together without noticing any notable behavior. Seems my grip setting has only been on the second and third notch.

I set it to full blast. Also watched voltmeter display this morning and it dips to 13.1 occasionally, and very briefly, so no worries there (usually high 13s to 14+).

Hadn't noticed any heat cycling on my '10. I tend to do a lot of hwy riding and turn them down when I get into town.

I'll have to keep an eye out for it next spring. I just put my Kawi away for winter hibernation.

NestorK, today I am thankful to live in the SE. Rode a dawn patrol this morning starting at 30 degree f and ended the ride at 36 or 37. Felt great in light winter gear and single layer gloves. I ate turkey with the windows open and wearing a t-shirt.

My job takes me into an urban dump, so I don't ever motocommute for work (vandals, thieves, crackheads), but I plan to continue riding all thru winter. I did two winters without a car at all, but then we only get several really cold weeks here. Once I discovered electrics, it was ON! This C14 does such a good job with "protection" I don't anticipate any trouble in poor weather.

Good luck surviving the hibernation...yuck!

Hi Gang,
I need to buy a top box for my new C14 and am confused about which on to get. Previously I had a Givi V46 with a paint matched lid on my FJR and now that I have a C14 I don't know which one to get. Apparently there is a top box from Kawi (made by Givi?) that carries the same (testarrosa) lines of the C14. Do any of you have this top box and is it better than the standard Givi V46?

What do you prefer?

I have a V46 mounted on a Phils Rack w/ sw motech mounting kit, www.philsfarkles.com . The rack replaces the oem unit.

The Givi in the pic is 6 years old; brought it over from the prior bike.

I just got the Givi Monokey E55 that was suggested to me on page 50 or 51 of this forum and the phils rack to go with it. you dont have to get the specialized mounting bracket for the phils btw.

I have owned and used two Givi E360 as panniers and an E460 topcase for 15+ years on half a dozen different bikes (just match up the Givi wing set and your done!). Gotta say that I would purchase this gear again in a heartbeat. I plan to add a Phil's rack to the BigBlueSquirt and run 460 as a topcase for all the missus' stuff (we camp with a bunch of stuff!).

So, in a sea of choices about luggage, it is good to know that so many others have such good results and longevity from Givi products.

I added the 47L Kawasaki (Givi) topbox with PCA rack. Amazed at the stuff it can hold.
