Not that there's anything wrong with that.
But it really brought home to me once again, after riding for so many years, that the sport tourer is an odd bird that defies convention and appears not to appeal to very many people, which I find puzzling. To me, they're bikes that do so many things well (as long as it's on pavement).
What's your theory as to why sport tourers don't sell very well?

That'd be pretty challenging.

I helped w/ the land survey of the border when Nunavut was split from the NWT.

We used helicopters, of course.

As the junior guy, I was made to walk through polar bear territory w/ nothing but a 12 guage, which

wouldn't have done anything but anger Ursus Maritimus.

No highways.

I loved the "rush minute" in Iqaluit, and other esoteric local traditions.

Plenty of power. More importantly, plenty of power in the lower RPM's. Very smooth motor, well built, will last forever, up right seating position, good MPG, handle's great, can do a track day on it, very ridged frame, and can blister a good portion of sport bikes from stop light to stop light. Probably one of Honda's best kept secrets.


And if it matters... it will levitate the front wheel with no problem ;-)

Technically speaking, if you ride to Chisasibi on James Bay and ride your bike into the bay on the beach you've ridden in Nunavut, right? If so, I've ridden in Nunavut!

I am happy to have learned of this through ADV.

And to think the GF labels this site as a "time-waster!!)

Now I have a reason to buy a Stelvio and ride up to Black Island, 'cause I sure as hell ain't taking

my K1200GT down that road!!

Of course, Black Island is in fact a peninsula, not an island...

Dakez, I like the wedges as well. Had them initially, then went to the two inch block with three-quarters inch set-back. I didn't like those, and returned to the wedges. I'm satisfied with the wedges combined with the Kawi accessory seat.

You rear tire indicates nice roads in your area!

Not as much of a legend as my SO is. She rode her F650 GS alongside my 1150 GS on the same trip. We didn't go straight up the James Bay road either. We headed east at Lebel sur Quevillon over to Chibougamau, then rode and camped on Route Du Nord to it's intersection with the James Bay Road. I'd consider it a once in a lifetime trip because I have no intention of doing it again

We did this trip in 2004. Judging by the looks on the faces of the resident population near Nemiscau where we camped for the night, they weren't expecting to see the long blond hair of a female when she took off her helmet.

I just put CO-149 on the list to ride from Del Norte to Gunnison as part of a Canon City to Canon City loop. Is this doable during mid-May?

Judging from the way winter is going so far it should be this year. But usually mid-May is doable just have to be careful for all the sand/gravel that is still present. PM me if/when you come out.
