I am buying this bike on Sunday. It is a 2007 with 40,000 miles. Said to be in excellent to very good condition. As side from normal stuff anything unusual I should pay attention to prior to closing the deal? Hope it is as good as it looks.



My stable is getting kind of full.

Try to obtain a service history and fwiw - I have a friend with one with 50k and runs like a swiss watch. I'm sure others will chime in re: specific things to check/look for.

Looks like mine. I paid $5,400 for my '07 with 3,000 miles on it. Get a good price.

How big is it?

Has anyone in the states put more than four gallons of gas in thier tanks?
Has anyone ran out and then had the bike stall out at speed tens miles after fill up
I am not sure rhat my stall and subsequent trailer retrieval was related to the earlier gan runnout problem and am trying to piece my diagnosis together.
The bike felt it was out of fuel and I miraculisly coasted into a station. Upon fill up(3.94 gallonos), she started up and I went on my merry way. Rode two blocks home, left for work the next morning without incidant till ten miles along. Pow she just died and would not start. Something clogging the fuel line sounds like a reasonable start, but why pulling fuel from the top tube. I would think if it were at the floats, only one would be junk.
I have seen posted a few times where Scrambler owners were scratching thier heads when the bike just took a nap.
Throw some ideas, I dont want a unreliable second bike, I already own a Superduke that is high maintanance.
I have a 07 wth twenty grand on the odo and have had five of the twenty in ownership and we get allong swimingly.

Maybe the tank is not venting through the cap. Try unscrewing the gas cap. If that solves your problem, the cap is not venting properly.

Even if it was on reserve it wouldn't affect the running - until you ran out of gas and tried to switch to reserve!

To make a long story longer
The incident that caused the trailering home was with a very full tank of gas. It was just prior to this stall out that I ran out of gas, including reserve. This was the first time in thirty something years that I forgot to switch backover to the main tube and when I felt the bike starving for fuel I reached down to put it on reserve. Much to my surprize, It was already on reserve. The reason that I am curious about the tank size is because if the bike was already acting strange while still having some remaining fuel in it, I may need to focus my diagnosis toward electrical.
I have been driving my truck to work now for two weeks. One to make sure that I make it and two because Ca. is getting wet. When I have a chance to ride it long enough without worrying wheter it will get me to a destination on time I will get to see if it actually has a problem or if it was an anomoly caused by, say, harmonic convergence.
It is neat to harken back to a time when a bike was just a bike, no bells no whistles. I am loving this bike in a way that i believed I would but I thought coming off three previous DL1000's I was going to be let down. I am here to say I was wrong.
Please speak up if you have had cap failure.

I fitted the Thruxton seal protectors the other day & rather than modify the front flasher mounting bracket I ordered the Thruxton bracket.

Fitted it up tonight, it moved the flashers in closer & lower, it also moved the regulator lower as well....looks ok & different to a standard Scrambler
