Ace has it right. If you have Edward George Smith on one and Ed Smith on the other you may need to pull out other ID. If your registration is the same as your Passport you will be OK unless the agent wants to impress the Mexican prez and be a hard ass. In that case, find a bi-lingual speaker to explain that Ed and Edward are the same name.

Keep your DL in your wallet with those three copies you made of it.

Use your passport or passport card for both your TVIP and tourist card. Bike title or Alaska registration is fine.

Liens listed or mismatched names my fee goes up.

My drivers license is from NM and my bike is registered in South Dakota, (the same as a lot of Americans living in Mexico), and I've never had a problem bringing my bike in. Most of us who have vehicles registered in SD do not have SD drivers licenses, so you should be ok on this one.

I've been to Talpa several times on day trips from Sayulita. Way cool town to visit. Another must see near by is San Sebastion de Oeste. There is a coblestoned high-mountain mine road from SS that climbs to over 8K to an overlook. I love it how you can ride from sea-level to over 8K in a few short hours from PV. PM me anyone, if you want the track to it from SS.

I just realized - We have been full time in Mexico for 5 years as of today. In that time, we have been hit up for a mordita all of twice, have never been accosted or molested or hassled by anyone in Mexico. I can say the that the US Border Patrol has hassled me when leaving the US to return to Mexico but that's all. m It has bee a great five years and it went damn fast. The weather is good, the riding is great and the people wonderful. Yes, Mexico is safe.
