Honda XR200 DIY adventure mods

I'm quite happy about this "Little Machine That Could" . I also don't mind keeping it bone stock but after keeping it for a few months...What the heck started with the dash.

Then small cosmetic mods here and there, had some stickers printed and cut out.

Stuck one of them on a home made wind screen for better wind deflection.

Stuck carbon fiber sticker sheet at the rear. It's mounted by bolting it together with an aluminum bracket for support

Fitted a new Polisport front fender

Engine bash plate, locally made. Just bought it online.

Had my sister in Canada send me some adv stickers

Which was then stuck on my top mount luggage. Yes!!! Finally I can go on long rides with luggage

With all the stuff above installed. Here she is.

After another month, I figured the need for more mods. Wasn't really happy with the stock headlights and mounting additional instruments on the dash area was essential. Also had to improve wind deflection. This means, more custom parts. Made myself a custom headlight windscreen cowl which is to be mounted a bit further front to accommodate instruments such as gps etc. which is to be mounted in the near future.

Fitted sturdy brackets I can vouch for. These are tough and light weight and can carry the weight of a person standing on it "It's a rear set"

Adding an auxiliary fog light was very much needed after riding in foggy conditions. Here's a mock up view of how it should look like when mounted all together.

This 2009 model XR of mine which is released in asia, the last model of it's kind to be released here in the Philippines. Bought it brand new and bought in august of 2012 doesn't have a kick starter. So I wouldn't want to go low on battery in barren lands. Installed a volt meter to monitor the battery. The space on the left will be used for gps.

It was time to test the effectiveness of the light mods. Went out on a night ride to the mountains with 2 of my friends. Sorry no pics during the night as the environment was pitch black with occasional zero visibility due to fog.

The place where we headed and crashed for the night. No reservations were made, still we took our chances and headed of to this place, had to knock out in the cold and wake up the person on duty for the night to beg for a room.

By the way, forgot to mention that the lighting mods made passed with flying colors

Fogs were crossing the road in the morning. You could imagine how foggy it was the night before.

Got the wind screen back from the paint shop and mounted it. Kinda looks like a cross breed between an LC4 and a GS

Replaced the stock hand protectors with wrap arounds.

My project is still on going and will post more pics as soon as they're available.

My latest addition. DIY Headlight protectors, they are very well worth it.

Also a DIY Tank cover to prevent dents on the steel tank when tipping over on difficult trails also shrouds to draw air to the engine on long road runs...or it also be more of aesthetics

Took the bike out on a 3 day adventure ride to test the equipment and it did great.

Wrapped up the grips with foam which reduced the terrible vibration. Also a must for people with tendonitis.

Hi Carloscyclecare,

I have a XR125L with sucky lights and also want to put a bigger shield on it. Any details on the lights you put on? is the fog light a China made LED and what is the story of the shield, I was thinking about "making" one out of a aluminium like the LC4, but yours looks great!
