Damper is on my list too. Thx on the graphics. I actually used the 690 fender. Works great and cheap too!

Grand Teton > Yellowstone. The continental Divide trail north and south of Kalispel is really nice. Some fun roads with lots of jumps too. Great roads to blast down and then stop at the lakes for a bit of a rest. I've only rode pavement west of here from my sport bike days so no comment on the return section.

Hey Guys,
Whats the current state of affairs or registering a dirt bike for on road use? I was under the impression that its mostly impossible here and if a shop got caught doing an out of province type inspection that they could get their credentials pulled. I have a buddy who will only buy a Honda and we keep trying to get him into dual sporting, and since Honda doesnt make DS bike in NA, he's thinking of buying a CRF450 and converting. Thoughts or recent experiences? Wes

Hey Guys,
In case any of you are looking for LED driving lights, I just picked up a set of 2x2 LED's from Mopac (http://www.mopacautosupply.com/) here in Calgary. They're on Hiway #1 and Center Street. Same specs as all the other offerings out there, available in flood or spot, in stock and $79 each. 1440 lumens each, good build quality, stainless hardware and even come with weatherpac connectors, very long leads and even lighted switches. I can post pics etc if interested. Between these and my 50W HID projector, I should be lighting up the night! Cheers, Wes

I'd think about installing those on my truck before bike. Too big and combersome for a smaller bike but you are correct. LED's are slick. I personally just bought a 20" bar for my Toyota. For those of you in the sub 400lb bikes, I've had people give good reviews to the Baja Designs Squadran light. Super bright, but not cheap! Bad reviews regarding the dimmer though. Both of them broke in Baja with only a few days use. For a cheaper solution I've seen people mount two of those lights Wesley is talking about behind factory light shrouds. Looked great, worked pretty damn well too. Not exceptional for highway, but great offroad!

Don't try it with an out-of-province bike. Purchase the CRF in AB, then take it to a "sympathetic" registry to get the plate. There are a few around that do it, I recently plated my KDX no questions asked. Whether it is street-legal or not is another question... some are concerned about that, others are not.

Many of the ppl at various registries don't know or care.
Had one a while ago would happily have street registered my son's CRF-50. When I said; no - off road only, he said; oh, it's a quad... ![]() BUT, be ready to show mirrors, signal lights, etc to Fish n Wildlife or police. Big thing for me and others is IF your insurance company would disavow you if anything bad ever happened. I don't have much faith in them, personally. Tell your buddy to crawl out of the 90's and buy a KTM.

Personally I'd go WR450 for a dual sport. IMO, better engine, more reliable, better built, etc. Not street legal though.

My off-season was short this year. Just took delivery of studded tires to give winter riding a try. I'm a convert now, I can see how some guys say riding in winter beats riding in the summer.

Winter riding is on my list this year too. I got a pair of ice racing tires but I also want to ride the trails. So I'll need another set of studded ones for the trails because the ice racing studs would wear out on rocks etc. Which means probably another set of wheels because swapping tires each time would be a major pain. Or, hell, maybe just get another bike. (When does it end...)

Range Road 52 A to cross rockies into BC
I was looking at google maps and see a road crossing into BC south east of Elkford. It would be a cool multiday trip if it is passable with a dual sport. Google maps shows it between "funnel peak" and "Mt Erris".

flossandfly,
It looks like you haven't been taking your meds again! This link relates to the Nexen takeover. Take your meds, count to 5, then try again Ian Quote:

HAHA. I tried again but the map link didn't go to where I was.
With the air photo turned off it is easy to find where a road crosses the bc alberta border south east of elkford. Looks pretty cool but may be a goat trail. |
