Forgive me Honda boys. I guess I keep getting confused with the thread below and that it was a relevant point for discussion. I thought they were merged.

I've been reading about the new EU 'anti-tampering' rules, which would have destroyed the aftermarket over here.
The compromise is these new regs will now only effect bikes under 48bhp, ie. the new 'A2' class licence, which is these bikes (and a few others) and any bike restricted from 94bhp (Tiger 800, Z800e). So if any Euro rider buys one, you won't be able to fit anything aftermarket unless it's approved by Honda. Bit of a bummer unless Europe can get the USA 54bhp tune for older riders who have a full licence but want to enjoy biking on the cheap.

The euro-compliant 500s are 47bhp, while there is a rumour that the USA models will be 54bhp.

You mean you might trade a 1000 for a 500, what appeals to you about that? Might be interested in that show, where and when will it be, which is your bike? TIA

I bought the 1000 for 2 up touring and now we have a sidecar outfit and my wife has her own bike. The 1000 Vstrom has fueling/clutch issues from the factory,so unless you spend alot of $$$ it'shard to ride slow and I commute on it everyday year round. Also I only get about 37mpg commuting. I bought my wife a GS500 last summer and really like riding it but it's just to small for me ( size wise ) thats why if the X is bigger it might work great. I will have my sidrcar rig that I built in the Seattle Cycle World show..

The old saying about "riding a slow bike fast, rather than a fast bike slow" has a certain appeal. I loved the ergos (6'1", 34" inseam) and balance, and was surprised that an inexpensive bike could look so good. |

The only draw back to the bike is that it won't be available till April-June..
I'm going to Deadhorse on June 20th,I need to either do alot of work to my Vstrom or buy a new bike and getting the X a week before I leave is not good OR it now showing up in time !!. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The new 500s are featured in Cycle World and Motorcyclist this month. They're looking pretty sweet.
