From what you are coming off of, I'd say this is a huge step forward in reliability. I have owned everything from MX bikes to sport tourers. This Tiger is the most versatile bike on the market and it has a HUGE GRIN FACTOR!

Harley's are good and reliable if built right but not something I will take offroad. They have their placeand the customization never stops but but on a washed out rode or bad gravel road, not the best. All of mine were either choppers or 40's bobber styles (except 1 bagger) and would take them anytime over the road. Wanted to do something different and the 800XC is it. Completely out of my comfortzone and what I knew but loving it everyday and no regrets. Lets see if I can clock 50000 on this motor without a complete rebuild. That will be about perfect then.

Oh and my bike is ready for pick up. the new Ohlins shock is installed and ready to go! I can not wait to ride it!!!!!!

Yeah, I'm interested in your feedback on the Ohlins. They went somewhat simple with the stock shock. A little more adjustment would be a huge plus. I am on the lighter side and the spring is somewhat stiff for my liking.

I had one (mentioned above)... first and last for me. Spent 10 weeks in the shop on various warranty repairs in the 2yrs/24k I owned it. Had to unload it when the warranty expired - felt like holding a hand grenade. To quote someone else on ADV about the bike - "I love riding this bike, I just hate owning it."

Tiger's been a dream, however, with 18k so far.

Yep. The high miles is what I was speaking of. Not sure if anyone has clocked 50k yet. I know a few are relatively close though. How many months out of the year are you getting up there as far as riding?

My XL1200R and FXDF were totally reliable- and my ride of choice when I wanted to have my nuts rattle.

Only reason I sold 'em, was the Tigger won out every time if I was trying to decide which ride to take. Enjoy the bike-you'll love it

Shouldn't be a problem if my 955 is anything to go by....

Now has 67000 miles only routine servicing required.

What do you attribute the ability for that Harley to run those roads. Is it the low center of gravity, frontend geometry, something else? I can't give all the credit to the rider, as some bikes are easier to ride in some conditions than others.
