Time for Hints
The cabin is available for rent through the US Forest Service.
Also according to the their web site: Cabin was built in 1929 as a single-room cabin with a front porch. This is a good example of a common type of backcountry guard station built for Forest Service workers at that time. It's now eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. |

WAG: This pic makes me think of 39 Rd.
I think I remember seeing a cabin of some sort along there somewhere, unless I didn't.

That one was pretty obvious.
![]() Did you know there once was a hotel on top of Steptoe? With an Observatory ! Supposedly could see the Cascades. Google Cashup Davis and Virgil McCroskey for some history. Someone used to do slide shows at the bottom, and the Palouse Grassland Protection something something is out there a lot. Some of the original Palouse ecosystem still on Steptoe. Maybe some of those GIANT Palouse earthworms, also.

Rocky is tired from her long and snowy drive home from Pendleton this evening and asked me to post a picture for her.
