Seriously, I was going to get one of these new GP's to replace my aging VIO video, which works just fine, but that would just be crazy.

It is a little disappointing that a product "appears" to have been rushed to market for _______ <----- fill in the blank.

I do give GoPro the benefit of the doubt though which is the reason I said "appears". So I hope the issues were an oversight on their part and that they have not fallen into the same trap that so many have lately. Because in the end it's not only us, the consumer, but also the company that will suffer from rushing products to market.

On the plus side, since I'm holding off on upgrading I have more $$$ to spend on other toys

why do you need a specialized case for diving? i took my standard GoPro 2 out and down to 60 m and had no issues ?

The flat front of the diving case makes the picture a thousand times more clear. This is a video from where I used to work.

No issues with the Hero 3 White that I have. Although the Android app still only lets me turn the device on and off, and use the beeper locator.

To cure Vignetting, mainly. The GoPro Dive Housing page describes it a little, but there are many other sites with more info if you Google 'GoPro Dive Housing'.

It appears the dive housing reduces, or gets rid of, the fisheye effect. Is that true or was it the mode the video that snbrd4evr used when filming the shark.

I've had my H3 Black for a couple of weeks and just decided to use it this week-end to ride. Sure wish I had found this thread first. While waiting for a 64GB to get here I bought a SanDisk 16GB class 10 to get it going. Takes pictures. Will only record sound when trying the video mode, no picture. And of course the remote won't link up. I read back to page 130 and didn't see anyone else with this issue. Any ideas?

I've had good luck info-wise by looking on a GP H3 specific forum.

The flat front of the housing makes it seem like you're looking through a mask. When looking through a dome underwater there is distortion and it will make the image look blurry. So that's the way to go if you're filming underwater.

I tried a google search and didn't find any. Cant believe that. Being Monday I called Go Pro tech. They got my remote working and the video issue(set on default 1440) was I don't have enough power. 960 worked fine. Going to ride tomorrow and see.

My friend rode with me yesterday with his GoPro 3. I recently upgraded from a Hero1 to a Hero2 and love it even more after his battery didn't last as long as mine. The Hero3 is just as wide and tall, it's only thinner. Don't see any advantage to the 3, unless I want slow motion I guess. He was fumbling for his remote control while I just reached to my chin mounted GoPro and it's on. I got it positioned on my chin guard where I can now see the red light. I love it, and I can capture a whole day of riding by cutting it on and off at the right times. Love my Hero2.

By far the best camera point of view yet. I have both my helmets like that and love the handlebar view. Much better than a chest mount and top of helmet mount. Now if GoPro would create a mount like this. I wasn't sure if other were doing this, if not they should.
