Mr. Smithy, I am sorry to have insulted you. It certainly appears that my choice of words did not convey the intended meaning. Your shit comment caught me at a bad time and I reacted inappropriately.
One thing that is certain in the metal business, whether it be energy or cutlery, there always may be a better way to process the material yielding a better product. You openly admitted that obtaining good quality raw material was difficult for you and that your confidence level for your shops equipment was that of processing only carbon steel. You cited material defects and product uniformity issues. I attempted to offer information from the heat treating and forging businesses I’ve been involved in for the past 40 years and felt that there was some information that could have been shared to your benefit. If you or anybody else has no interest, so be it.
As to having the last word, I sincerely hope that I will have other post here.

As for mod intervention, it came "this" close. Sometimes posters need to know the players a little better, it keeps them from stepping on their dick so much. The old "read more, post less" thing and all.
