This has been a few sad days. One person I've grown to respect and another who to me is simply offering interesting information. This is not Jo momma and I expected better. Hoping this ends and we can continue with the task at hand.

Well, apparently I don't know what I'm talking about, and use smoke and mirrors to describe what I do.

Of course my hackles got up.

I just try to share what I do, because people have asked me to. If someone has a problem with that, PM's are more than welcome... but a public insult is out of line. I admit I got sucked into it, and I'm sorry, to all of you, and Mr. Fritz.

I'll trouble you all no more.

At the risk of being lumped in as a sycophant, are you guys serious?

fritzcoinc was insulting, condescending and full of negative assumptions from the start. Smithy kept to the high road the whole time.

If you can't see that already, I'm sure I won't convince you.

Mr. Smithy, I am sorry to have insulted you. It certainly appears that my choice of words did not convey the intended meaning. Your shit comment caught me at a bad time and I reacted inappropriately.
One thing that is certain in the metal business, whether it be energy or cutlery, there always may be a better way to process the material yielding a better product. You openly admitted that obtaining good quality raw material was difficult for you and that your confidence level for your shops equipment was that of processing only carbon steel. You cited material defects and product uniformity issues. I attempted to offer information from the heat treating and forging businesses I’ve been involved in for the past 40 years and felt that there was some information that could have been shared to your benefit. If you or anybody else has no interest, so be it.
As to having the last word, I sincerely hope that I will have other post here.

Thanks for the redirect.

As for mod intervention, it came "this" close. Sometimes posters need to know the players a little better, it keeps them from stepping on their dick so much. The old "read more, post less" thing and all.

Fritz, you and Smithy work in two different worlds, but you didn't see that. You only saw what Smithy does from your own perspective. Not everyone works the way you do. Doesn't make them wrong, just different.

Well, having lost both my Benchmade auto and my first Microtech LUDT; I found a second LUDT to replace the one lost. I have two dozen other knives I could lose and not bat an eye. That I lost my two favorites causes me rash like you wouldn't believe.

Anyway, during my search for the replacement LUDT (and it wasn't easy), I ran across the Microtech Scarab. Do you have any opinions on it?
