I'll be on the 650. Need to tear down the fueling system on my 250 after it got Sion'd on the last outing...

I love that this is now a verb.

Sion, your XR may not run, but she's legend in this thread.

Try putting gas in the gas tank. Works every time.

I know right? I think some more shit is plugging something up. He made it back here fine, it sat for a week and now I can't get it to run above idle again. I'm going to ebay another tank for it since that one is so beat up.

Unfortunately, none that I am aware of locally. When those machines reached the end of their economic life, they were worth more as scrap than anything else. There may be one fair sized one preserved in IL, another in OK. Beyond that......just bits and pieces like the bucket from Big Muskie.

Shame too, they were truly amazing pieces of equipment.

I've been lucky, got to see the Gem & Big Muskie work when I was your. And lately, have gotten to see some of the largest bucket wheel excavators ever made still operating in Europe. Those are also truly massive machines. And each of them has an expected life of 50 years!

I'm off Thursday but I really don't want to beat on my Tenere on anything more harsh than Bats Nest level stuff....

Water will do that. Some carbs the main jet sits lowest where water lurks. A plugged main will do it too.

Did you recently over oil the air filter?

Maybe some bad fuel too. That new ethanol blend loves to absorb water. Did you use fuel out of a can that had been sitting?

Sounds good. It's been too wet to try difficult stuff anyway.

We can do a TOT recon ride, just look for and document dirt and gravel... but that may be boring. I've heard of Swingset's Big Bike Ride... any experience with this?

Whatever... I'm up for anything.

The first edition left where I live north of Granville and meanders east then north to make a big Licking/Coshocton loop.

The second starts in Danville and goes down to Coshocton, then down through Muskingum.

They both hit a lot of gravel, but it's familiar stuff if you've ridden those counties much. I put 'em together to have a big bike ride that was close to Columbus/Central Ohio.

I can send ya the .gpx of either ride if you want them.

Yeah, I'm also up for whatever... and my GPS is kaput, so call it and I'll just tag along. I have all day and then some.
