I'm sure he is, he's made a few post up on the "craigs list find of the day" thread. He's looking, no telling what he'll find next. Hell he might have gone over to the dark side now that he got a white exPolice Kawasaki to ride.

He contacted me last week about buying my 650 ural for a project. The ural had just sold to another buyer before he contacted me, but I hope to read about him putting together a uraharley soon!

I've been busier than a cat covering shit on a marble floor.
Yeah, I was bummed I missed Matman's ural. woulda been perfect to put a sporty motor in. This is my current project along that idea, its in the shop in Bulgaria. I didnt have alot of time this summer, so I just got it mocked up, but it looks like it'll work fine. Its actually a dnepr, not an ural, but they's about the same. I found out that the sporty frame cradle will fit down into the dnepr frame just fine. I just gotta do a little bracket making & welding. biggest problem is the sporty motor is taller, so I had to cut off the backbone of the frame, but I think I can flip it over, make a couple bends, add a few bits, & weld it back on. The rear swingarm is also from a sporty, and I have a chain drive 16" sporty rear wheel. technically, its a buell motor, out of a 01 cyclone. So I'm gonna replace a 15 horsepower dnepr motor with a 100hp buell motor. ![]() some pics so far..... the motor is now in the frame, but I guess I forgot to take a picture of it. ![]() ![]()

so now that I'm back in the US, & did the cannonball run, my garage has been relocated to a nicer & warmer area.
The garage itself is smaller, altho with other rooms & outbuildings, its probably got more area. ![]() ![]() I got this 95 Ducati from another ADV inmate, its an SP model, #379. I didnt know it was anything special, I just wanted a new toy. Of course it wasnt running, as they are cheaper like that. It was also partially apart. He tried to charge me more, since he thought he had done 1/2 the work, by taking it apart ![]() ![]() So I finally got some room freed up, & decided to see if it would run. Trying to figure out what bolts & parts went where wasnt real easy, but I fingered it out ok. I finally got it to run with a gas bottle, so then I stuck the tank on, but it wouldnt run. Turns out the fuel pump & filter were stopped up from bad gas. I didnt know it had a pump, as its got carbs, not efi. ![]() I had recently bought an ultrasonic cleaner for stopped up carbs, and for the hell of it, I put the fuel pump in there, & ran it thru a couple cycles. Damn thing started working again! I dunno why I went so long without one of these handy doodads! ![]() Runs great now, and it sure is fun to ride! And just because I know that you guys think that all I do is tear stuff up & ruin it, heres a pic of it. Now I'm not promisin I wont tear it up & do something weird with it later...... ![]() (I think chrome upswept fishtail pipes would REALLY set it off!) ![]() Now that the duc quacks like it should, heres my new dirtster project I picked up a year ago, & havent had time to fool with since. First thing, remove all the crap that it doesnt need.....

http://www.potomacvintageriders.com/york-swap-meet/ Going to York this year? You could be my helper again... haha
After a year and a half of trying I finally talked my dads friend out of his r69us. Its been in storage since 1982. What can you tell me about cleaning slingers? Ride safe, Glenn

I dunno about york yet, but I'd like to
Ive never cleaned the /2 slingers. I have had several /2's, many had sat for years. (I got one last week with a '92 tag on it still, it runs great after a carb cleaning) The whole motor has to come apart to clean them, so my thought is that I would clean them if I had to rebuild the motor. I've never had to rebuild one. I think its just something that bmw guys fret over. if the motor needs rebuilt, rebuild it. but why take it apart if it doesnt need it? Oh, and I'd suggest running non detergent oil in the engine, as the detergent type can break loose crud that is stuck somewhere, and that crud could hurt something. But, remember, I'm no bmw expert (even tho, believe it or not, I did spent 200 hours getting BMW factory certified about 20 years ago) But thats what I do to MY /2's Doug
