I took a tour of the Cuervo factory last week
I was surprised how much I enjoyed the 1800 Anejo It is aged for 2 and a half years in oak Almost enough to qualify as an extra anejo And everyone in the town of Tequila told me that Jose Cuervo make the best tequila in the world. Their Gold is crap But the other stuff is not too shabby |

Yep, just the battery
A good mechanic told me once to rule out all the simple things before you dive in to the complicated ones |

You could be staying here
There is this "hotel" on the beach that has these little cabanas built in to the hillside.
No one was staying there Can't be more than a few pesos a night What are you waiting for

Zipolite
There is this crazy little beach town near by. It's called Zipolite. It has a big beautiful beach lined with hotels and restaurants. And when I say hotels......don't think Alcapulco style hotels. Many are just 4 walls and a roof. Some are nicer. I found a bed could be had for as little as $4 a night. The most expensive hotel is $100 a night........and that hotel has a restaurant on the beach that was rated by Lonely Planet as the 2nd best restaurant in all of Mexico. And I tried it and it was really that good!!!!!
But Zipolite has a little of everything. It is mostly occupied by hippy tourist looking for a beach, some weed, cheap beers and inexpensive accomidations During the day, the beach is kind of a quasi-nude beach. What the hell........Even I dropped trou!!!! When in Rome................ I have been going there to do some body surfing. The water temp is in the low 80's I am guessing. It is really nice and fun. During the evening, everyone comes out on the main drag in town and hangs out at all the little bars and restaurants. The people watching is great. Lots of dreadlocks. I saw one old dude with some young Mexican chick. I saw a couple in their 70's that looked like they just stepped out of woodstock. Everyone has a story to tell for sure.

Here is the main drag in Zipolite. In the picture, you can see the little Mexican scooter I have been riding. I have been getting braver on it. I am ever power sliding it around some of the dusty corners here in town. And I can say this out loud because I know the scooter's owner has done far worse to this little gem of Mexican engineering.

Zipolite
I had one of the best pizzas in my life on the streets here in Zipolite this evening. They called the "Mixta". But I think that translated into "meatlovers"
It was made in a real brick, wood-fired oven Yum!

taco stands to gourmet
You expect taco stands here in Mexico
But what about real gourmet food? Yep, it's here Mexican's take their food seriously At this one restaurant in Zipolite called La Provendecia, the chef is very serious. We saw him sampling all his sauces made to order. I saw him get made at his su-chef. And I never saw him smile once. He was too focused Here's the beef medalians and shrimp at about $15 a plate ![]()

Perfect end to a perfect day
My favorite thing to do here is watch the sunset and have a shot of my favorite tequila.
![]() This Cava de Oro Extra Anejo is stunning. Too bad its all gone now. BTW, one negative about this place is it seems like it is always on fire. Mexicans here burn everything You can smell the smoke in the air. It is really quite sad but it make for beautiful sunsets
