noob "Where does this go?" question

Hi. Noob here, wanting very much not to do the noob thing and post in the wrong place. Been reading the forum for a while but still not sure of my way around.

Where would I post a question about the effects of different mechanical things on riding? I.e. what's the practical difference between a parallel twin and a V-twin, or how does the suspension affect bike handling/comfort? This is a question about riding, but not the Dark Arts thereof.

Similarly, where would I put a _general_ question about choosing a new bike, if I am considering different styles of bikes (i.e. between a dual-sport and a cruiser and a naked bike)? There's no overarching "General" category.
