You can have your own room on this beach for a little as $20 a night! Think about that......what are you paying for your place? There is something wrong here?

On my adventure, I am trying to maximize fun and minimize pain. I know there are some guys out there riding 2 stroke Russian made motorcycles around the world. And unseizing pistons is part of their adventure. Just riding thru Central America is plenty of adventure for me. Plus I want to hike up mountains and kayak down rivers. That is my kind of adventure. Having a broken motorcycle is not the kind of adventure I want. But I am not silly enough to think that is not a possibly. And in hindsight, it will probably be something I will look back fondly. But I don't want any unexpected expenses repairing the motorcycle. I would rather waste that money on a good bottle of wine or 2.
So yes, the GS is a good bike for me.
One of the days I am going to make a list of its pros and cons and add that to my RR.
But I like your attitude and spirit and hope to hear from you more along the way.
Ed

If you have problems with the machine you deal with it just like having problems with the language or the accommodations or the weather. You may finish this adventure and have a completely new adventure riding the same route on a Ducati or a Honda Transalp. It is a feature of the trip and there is no right or wrong decision. Just my 2 cents. I look forward every day to reading the updates. Keep it up! May the road always be interesting and the saddle forgiving!

You and Scubalong have a good ride
I am at least 4 solid day's ride from So Cal
And that is taking the toll roads
But it is worth it
I will definitely be back to this area
That is a big reason that I want to explore the world
I want to find my favorite places
I am adding this place to my favorites list

And easier ride would be to head down in to Baja and stay at Punta San Francisquito or something. The water won't be nearly as warm, but it a beautiful spot as well.

Ed, Thanks for the great beach wisdom, that is what I am looking for and it sounds like a very doable 3 week trip

Wifi

I am heading to Oaxaca tomorrow. I am not sure when I will have wi fi again.
I am going back to roughing it again. That means.......camping in the tent. And no wifi.
And no RR without wifi.
But I have some fun outdoorsy stuff planned.
As much as I don't want to leave here, I am excited to get back on the bike and to start making my RR look like a motorcycle adventure and not a week's stay at the Four Seasons.
But it was a nice break while it lasted
Thanks Kevin.................I really owe you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I am loving my Rev it Defender GTX riding suit
Check out page 33 on my RR. I answered that question and describe its virtues.

Made it thru the night

Not all of my camp spots are glamorous
After riding in to the night I pulled over and camped on the side of a niosy road next to a polive check point
The big rigs kept me awake but at least I felt safe knowing the police were about one hundred meters away
Last night on the road, people were driving fast and crazy
I was following a line of about ten cars when a big rig past me. And he kept on passing cars around blind corners forcing oncoming cars on to the shoulder between the guardrail and a horrific head on collision with the bug rig.
Well he made it around all the cars and I pulled over and tried to sleep
It was freezing last night
Not that eighty degree beach weather I was used to for the past ten days
I am up about 6000 in elevation
Heading up to 15,000!!!!!!
